Dannie Damien - Solitary Souls Pub album cover

Let's get this party started, because we DANNIE DAMIEN's re-release of "Solitary Souls Pub" out now. Limited to 300 signed copies via City of Lights Records and an additional two bonus tracks. "Solitary Souls Pub" is a bit mysterious at its core. Certainly the AOR elements are always present, but often times blues, country, and rock and roll rear their ugly heads. That's not a bad thing either because it does work overall. The title track "Solitary Souls Pub" starts very AOR and adds blues in the process. This morphs and flows very well. Somewhat of a ballad, "Everytime", does not have me convinced. There is something lacking that can take it to the next level. "The Devil Got Two Tails" is a great tune that injects some spirit into the music, whilst simultaneously reenergizing the listener.  Rocking riff and kickass use of the piano.

Talk about clever titles, well "Cowgirls from the Moon" has got some major guitars that are a little bit country and little bit rock and roll. "Damned Bells Dancer" is one of the best songs on the album. Everything is perfect and has a memorable chorus. "Rock 'N' Roll Nights" is a AOR classic in the making. This is another kickass song that oozes 80's. Now for the best song on "Solitary Souls Pub". "The Backslide" has me convinced now. You can hear the passion and conviction in DANNIE DAMIEN's music and vocals. The piano is compelling and exceptional and amazing guitar solo as well. Easily the best song on the album.

"Solitary Souls Pub" is not perfect by any means. However, it is perfect to jam out to while having a cocktail or two. DANNIE DAMIEN and his music on "Solitary Souls Pub" invoke feelings of a somber state. However, this gloomy and pensive mood gets lifted as the album plays on, taking away any negative connotations. This album is for fans of Styx, Toto, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, AOR, and 80's rock.
