NATTRAVNEN is a band made up by two members, Johnny Pettersson who plays all the instruments and Kam Lee who provides the vocals. This multinational Death Metal band reared it's devilish face in 2016 and has now spewed out a full length masterpiece entitled "Kult of the Ravnen".  This album is as ferocious as it is beautiful and I recommend it for everyone's listening pleasure.

The first track "The Night of the Raven" begins with the eerie cawing of ravens and bursts into a magnificent symphony of pure Death Metal. If they are looking for people to join in the Kult of the Raven you can count me in. Every note in this first song is perfect from the first to last. The second song "Suicidium, The Seductress of Death" burst out with hellfire and brimstone. I absolutely love this song, especially the wicked sounding speaking around the two minute mark. Another thing I truly enjoyed on this one are the drums and guitars.

"Corvus Corax Crown" is the third song on this journey through the macabre. And right from the start I definitely feel some Black Metal roots behind this track. This is most assuredly the most evil sounding song so far and it is intense as fuck. And then out of nowhere comes "Upon the Sound of Her Wings" which may I say is absolutely, insanely, phenomenal. It starts of with the sound of more ravens and has a nice buildup to in your face guitars and gutterals. This one really makes me wish I was seeing them play this live. I bet the pit would be completely nuts, even though I would be the guy in the front at the barricade headbanging.

"Return to Nevermore" is the halfway mark in our travels through this dark, evil and dreary voyage, and it does not let you down at all. This tempestuous song is by far my favorite thus far. It has everything you could ask for in a song of this nature. If I could compare it to any other bands I would have to go with if you mixed BLOODBATH and WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM. It is Death Metal in perfection.

"From the Haunted Sea" really lives up to it's name. It really has a haunting feel as if your house has been infested with a million angry demons. It hits hard and also has it's slower bits. This is really one I recommend listening to. "The Anger of Despair When Dealing With Your Death" is the longest track on the album. It has a wondrous chorus and has a very depressive feel to it. I guess the name of the song points out why it also has a mourning feel to it. It's an absolutely beautifully written song.

"Kingdom of the Nattravnen" is the second to last track and doesn't hold back in the slightest. Not only is it heavy it is also pretty creepy at certain times. They did a great job on this song. So far there hasn't been one bad song or anything negative that I could point out. The final song is "Kult Av Ravnen" and I couldn't have asked for a better song to end this awesome album. It brings a bit of every song on the album and brings it back for you to revel in. I am really glad I was able to review this and look forward to hopefully hear more from the band in the future!
