Swedish death metal outfit THIRD STORM unleashes their debut effort "The Grand Manifestation" November 9^th, 2018 via the well-known Dark Descent Records. The album is an eight-track, 44 minutes of pure brutal pounding, featuring a combination of black metal, doom metal, thrash metal and death metal for a sure annihilation. The album opens the most ruthless way with the blistering "Prima Mobilae". The song has a very strong drum presence tip-toeing on the fine line between blast beats and melodic pounding. The guitar and bass attacks are so evil and droning capturing the wicked hybrid of doom and black metal. The tempo is so unforgiving that you might find yourself headbanging for the whole seven minutes of its playing time.

Meanwhile, they shifted to a more melodic approach with the next song "As the Stars Watched the Birth of Eternity". The thrashy intro accompanied by the bombarding drums blend up the perfect balance between sinister and melodic sound. The song is also shifty in terms of tempo, mood and time signature hence adding to the excitement and adrenaline of the song. The track "The Third Thought from the Sun" showed their other face completely - here, they went all-out death-doom metal. The slow tempo accompanied by evilly down-tuned guitar riffs plus the depressive sound of the dirty vocals make it a perfect example of a funeral doom/death metal.

"Sapiens Formulae" is a transition instrumental to welcome the listeners into the stormy realms of "Through Eyes of Omnipresent". Like "Prima Mobilae", the song is unforgiving right from the get go. The only difference is that they employed more melodies in the track. The rest of the albums are complete reincarnations of the first songs, except maybe for "Forgotten Diety" which combined everything they did and compressing in in eight and a half minutes. The outstanding beauty of this song is on how they executed the changes of pace from full-blown aggressive to melodic beats.

Overall, I can say that the band has a good music to offer, plus a kick-ass album artwork, a parody of the famous painting "The Creation of Man" featuring God and Satan on the cloud shores. The only negative comment I can give is on the production, the guitars and bass are so over the top that the vocals can be barely heard sometimes. However, this could count as an additional brutality to their sound, if you love living and listening to the extremes.
