Beyond Dawn

Those who are familiar with the avant-garde Metal scene have surely come across the name BEYOND DAWN, a band that is/was active from 1990 when they released their first Tales From An Extinguished World demo. Their latest album was We're Down With Species of Any Kind in 2005 and before that they had released five full-length CD, one EP and two singles. As far as Bygones concerns, it is not a new album. In this release we are dealing with their first steps, from 1991 to 1994. It's the first one from a series of releases … spanning the band's entire career including material never before published, as the small Press release reads.
As you have already understood, this is probably not an album to start with if you don't know BEYOND DAWN in prior. The odd thing in this release is that it starts with the 'newest' Longing For Scarlet Days EP (1994) and ends with 1991's Heavens Dark Reflection demo. Of course you don't have to expect a good sound in the songs from their demo days and the unreleased rehearsal track called Glass Desert. The first songs have a proper production and even for today they sound fresh. But as we go back in time with Bygones someone may notice the CELTIC FROST influence (don't forget we are in the early 90s).
BEYOND DAWN's Bygones is an album firstly for the fans of the band that don't have their first recordings and because of the unreleased tracks. This album mostly has a historical meaning of existence rather than being compilation, for someone too see how they have evolved through time.
