It is truly an honor to be able to review this band. ALICE IN CHAINS have been a staple in music since the early nineties, although they formed in nineteen eighty seven. They rose to predominance along side such bands as SOUNDGARDEN, NIRVANA and PEARL JAM. Since the release of "Facelift" they were unstoppable until the untimely passing of Layne Staley. After his passing Jerry Cantrell and William Duvall have taken over the reigns of the vocals in the band.

This latest release "Rainier Fog" is just as good if not better in some ways than any other album they have produced. I honestly don't know if I would describe this as only Grunge though. It's more like a mix of Grunge and Sludge Metal off and on. This album is perfect for ALICE IN CHAINS fans and Metalheads alike. So let's get started on this magnificent album! The first song which is also a single off the album "The One You Know" is a perfect insight to the rest of the album. With it's slow and Grunge/Sludge feel throughout the song. It's pretty damn Metal if you ask me. From beginning to end this song is perfect in every way. I honestly love this one a whole lot.

The song "Rainier Fog" really reminds me of old school ALICE IN CHAINS. I really enjoy Mike Inez on bass in this song because he stands out a lot. And Jerry and William are wonderful on vocals in this one. It made me feel like Layne was back. "Fly" really gave me a flashback to the Nineties. The guitar work is immaculate. This is the grunge I remember when I was younger. Another favorite of mine is "So Far Under" because it has a melancholic yet angry feel. Sean's drum work is pretty damn great on it as well. This made me remember what being an angsty teen felt like. I highly recommend this one to fans.

By far the best song is the last "All I Am". Its really slow and depressing. It's the epitome of what we have come to love from the band. I wouldn't expect any less from these guys. Every song on this is great. I would have to say that "Rainier Fog" is in the top three of the best albums they have written. If you don't own this already go get it ASAP!
