Chaos Over Cosmos - The Unknown Voyage album cover

Travel to a completely different dimension with CHAOS OVER COSMOS' debut album "The Unknown Voyage". The band is a duo from Europe (Javier from Spain & Rafal from Poland) who primarily plays progressive power metal. The debut record consists of five epic tracks, one of which being the prelude "A Hidden Path", a very ear soothingly calm instrumental with a very short but powerful message quoted from Friedrich Nietzschie's "Thus Spoke Zarathustra". Meanwhile, Xenogears fans will be surely pleased by the first song "Armour of the Stars (Xenogears)". As mentioned, the stellar song is inspired by the classic playstation RPG "Xenogears". The track is a 15-minute long sound therapy of a very ambient music. The song brags a very irresistible and highly addictive riff and a 5-minute complex instrumental.

Right after a video game inspired song comes in a very heavy song about the evil that dwells in the society. The lyrics are really moving, and the way they delivered the message is simply amazing. The occasional use of haunting whispered vocals added to the overall character and attitude of the song. There are also multiple solos, all of equal beauty. The riffs that are pretty heavy is very well supported by a droning background. The last song "The Compass" is about a life journey of a person, which can relate to every human being. The lyrics once again are very moving. Each of the lines surely touches the mind and heart of anyone who would take time to listen to this song and internalize what the singer is saying. And the way they delivered it is simply the perfect way to say it. All are done with a very calm and cool tone, as if an angel messenger of good fate himself whispers the words to your ears. Hearing the lines "Hundreds of emotions that blindfold your true notion/If you try to aim higher, the lock will disappear/Walk among the stars! Look into your heart. Choose the path the needle marks" and how Javier delivered it with all heart-felt sincerity will surely make your spirit float in the air. Amazing song, that's what you call an eargasm.

To wrap up the album, they entered an instrumental called "The Sky Remembered my Name". The instrumental is nature inspired, having a very atmospheric and peaceful vibe. It reminds me a lot of GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT's "Helios Erebus". The golden messages they inserted in every song interests me a lot (Except of course for "The Armor of The Stars" which is video game inspired). First of all are those famous Nietzschie lines they used in the first track. I know very well that lots of people hate Nietzschie because of his philosophical views, but I don't give a shit to that, neither do CHAOS OVER COSMOS. The message in that quote is so powerful and true, and actually applies to everyone - whether they accept it or not. Next up is the straight to the point and in your face exclamation made by the song "They Will Fall". And of course, the very personal appeal of the song "The Compass", which easily is a standout among the rest. The message of the song will make you rethink your decisions in life.

Overall, I can say that this band is not just here to show off. They've got something to say - and a big talent to brag too. The product is simply amazing, and the fact that they actually wrote and recorded the songs miles away from each other is surely commendable. What's the best part of it is that YOU CAN HAVE THIS ALBUM FOR FREE. Yup, you read that right, FOR FREE.
