Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, PIQAIA is releasing a five tracks of progressive, experimental metal.This new album was released on August 10th, recorded and produced by Chris Kreutzfeldt (CABAL, Scarred By Beauty). "Raindrops" starts it all with a smooth intro with clean vocals, almost whispered. The guitars are creative, showing intelligent work and sharing the space between catchy melodic shorts and more lightly technical ones. The bass is easily heard in the mix, it gives a more round sound. Harmonic vocals are used here and there. Many variations  and time signatures are present but its still very accessible. There's is no screams or growls on this one.We are offered a pretty decent guitar solo duo in the last minute of the song.Very nice choice of a starter. This ten- minute long song didn't feel like ten at all, wow its a good sign, shows there's no dull passages.

The second track "Landscapes" is more complex and technical. The bass is interesting and we hear it well, it shows elaborated lines not just rhythm. Vocals are once again very effective and stronger here.We can hear some acoustic guitar on a chorus. Some discreet keyboards can be heard too (or samples) in the background. Really good song. The guitar complexity with strong and loud bass recording make this song really interesting and the solos are giving strong melody boost. This is one is strongest song so far. "Echo" has the similar formula heard in the first two songs. I don't mean they do the same tricks but more saying that they got their own sound.It shows continuity and songs are linked easily together.Also this is the first track tht we can hear screams.But the proportion between clean and growl vocals are of 80-20%. That's a good thing since bands nowadays are almost all doing only the scream shit and only leaving not that much space to clean vox. Lwss emotion in this one maybe but more technicality and originality within the guitar lines.

"Parable" is more a rock song, a ballad, soft, smooth, a break an aerial song that breathes and is very enjoyable and entertaining.There is an ascension to a more energetic and a beautiful chorus powered rendition.This song is amazingly written,grabbing you softly to the highest peak above the clouds showing you a brand new day coming and letting you see the sun pointing is rays right up at you, numb and smiling! "Artifact" This one got haunting piano, nice riffs ,this one is the first single available teamed up with a great video to act as a trailer for the upcoming album back in july. Djent with progressive acting banging as an Hard Rock band. What makes this album stronger than some others attempting  kind of the same road is that they sound aerial, the technicality and complexity used here doesn't sound like a shitload of riffs and massive wall of sound all compressed in a can of rock.Vocals are not that intrusive, instruments that overall need to be moe in the foreground are well represented here (bass). The aesthetics of the artwork represents very well the essence of the album and their sound too.

Its an entertaining journey and i'll have to keep an eye on them in the future!
