In early 2016, the band mentioned that they had begun writing for their third studio album. On 29 July, they announced that recording for the album had begun in their recently built studio. On 4 September, they revealed the first song, titled "Civil Isolation", and on 12 September launched pre-orders and a PledgeMusic campaign for the album. Also on September 12, they parted ways with their record label. The first single, "Hurricane", was released on 20 November, alongside an announcement that the album will be titled "You Are We" and released on 21 April 2017. The same day the band announce their signing to Australian independent label UNFD. On 23 February 2017, they released a song titled "Silence Speaks" featuring Oli Sykes, vocalist of BRING ME THE HORIZON. In April 2017, the group embarked on a month-long tour of The United Kingdom and Ireland
"You Are We", the album title, is the first song on the album, and usually what the band started on during their 2017 album tour. It was an album that I fell in love with last year to the extend that I saw them 4 times on their tour. The very brief and slow guitar intro from Mat takes president until Loz opens up with the 3 words: YOU ARE WE! He holds nothing back as Sav kicks the drums into gear, by this point, Sean and Aaron are full flow too. The song has a dirty Metalcore feel about it. It's like Loz himself, unshaven, uncut, no bullshit. The song builds up to the middle of the song as Loz hits out the chorus. The tempo is intense but very well balanced, Mat helps out with his vocals to match pace with Loz. The beat starts the pit to open as Loz gets his own lungs a smashing. The song explodes like cannon fire, but then regains composure, its like...
"Empire of Silence" has a slow start until Loz and Mat hit the vocals in sync. It not as fast as previous, with Mat taking a backing role on the vocals, softer in the background but that's only until the chorus where its joining up the powers that be once more. The song slows down in between chorus', as the band regain composure. The built up, you can hear it coming from the Yorkshire lads. Its another cracker than explodes mid-song, and trust me it's a great thing to see live. Especially when the pits form. The melody and tempo is so well balanced that it holds its own and keeps control of the song throughout. Mat and Sean show their skills along with Aaron when the melody takes its own place behind Loz. The chants form the boys are always joined in from the fans on this behemoth sized album track
"Silence Speaks" will unite two friends torn apart over the years in Loz and Oli, only to be joined together in the very sad passing of ARCHITECTS' lead guitarist, primary songwriter, keyboardist and founding member Tom Searle after a three-year battle with skin cancer (melanoma). Oli has a very limited stint in the end, but its good to hear the Sheff lad go back to his rougher vocal ways. The tempo and melody work hand-in-hand from the lads once more to harmonic perfection. Mat has a larger vocal role here, which his clearer stance is met by Loz's more dirtier vocals, not bad for a lad from Donny (Doncaster). The Yorkshire outfit smash out another pure gem. The sound has less intensity here but it is another key section of the album growing in both sound and passion. The eb of the song fades with intensity and seems more like an acoustic version, which turns semi-power ballad. At this point, the boys are having fun with the sound that they are producing.
"Hurricane" is a kick start on the intensity levels to the max. The slow intro from Loz is picked up with the tempo of the lads on the instruments. The vocals are split in intense levels between Loz and Mat once more. The melody is smooth, no stops here, its all out and amazing. The song repeats the slow intro to break down the song before the chorus. Trust me, after a few times you'll be singing along too. The mini solo is useful to build up pressure once more. Its not a complex song, as it has the same intense mix flowing through out, Loz has his intense vocals battling out with Mat to reign in the song, it's a joint heat. The chorus is short and simple, but that is in no way an insult, the last build up is hit hard by Aaron and Sav to build the levels to the highest point. Fireworks!
"Revolt" takes over by upping the intensity levels from the off. The tempo hitting out is more technical in the background, showing how the band have progressed over the years to great their greatest sound. The vocal from Mat is sped up to match the faster pace, even Loz hits shorter outburst to match. It's a non-stop almost Thrash-Paced track that takes the album to the next level. It's another floor filler and pit splitter. The melody does slow very shortly, but not long enough for me to eat my words. This is the fastest, more aggressive song so far, its brilliant!<
