Guardian Demons
King Heavy

We have the Chilean Doom/ Stoner / Heavy Metal band KING HEAVY with their 2nd full length album "Guardian Demons" releasing this June, and it promises to me an interesting album for fans of Doom, Stoner and Heavy Metal. Let's dig it.
The album starts with the title track in "Guardian Demon", which brings in different influences to create a very interesting sound. The clean vocals are very animated and loud, but interesting. The riffs lean towards Stoner Doom, and the drums complement them perfectly. "Death is but an Extreme Form of Narcosis" is much more Doomier, and seeps you into its depths of darkness and it only gets better with the dark lyrical themes. "Doom Shall Rise" is more of an anthemic Doom Heavy Metal song, which is unique and beautiful in every way. This one's going to be a fan favourite at the band's live shows. "Cult Of The Cloven Hoof" has some really cool sharp riffs, but does test your patience due to lack of variety in the song. Sadly, "Come My Disciples" too doesn't offer much different to the listener, but if you want more of the same Doom tone and riff, this might be of interest to you. The album ends with a very impressive 6 min song in "As in a Nightmare". It's got the juices, the riffs, the eerie vocals, and the Doomy drum beats.
With all its flaws, "Guardian Demons" still kicks some Heavy Doom ass. Pick this one even if you are not into Doom and similar genres. This album is not a masterpiece by any means, but KING HEAVY have done some fine job here, especially due to the unique vocals by Luce.
