AUROA BOREALIS is a Black/Death Metal band based out of Waldorf, Maryland, formed back in 1994. This is their 7th full-length album entitled "Apokalupsis", released on May 15th, 2018 on the Casus Belli Musica label. It comprises 11 tracks and a total of 40:51 minutes of music.
The crushing dissonance and brutality of "Even Angels Sin" grabs you by the throat with a mix of HATE ETERNAL and DEICIDE and also shows off a great deal of technical prowess in the guitars amidst the storm of blasting drums. "Phlegethon" has higher pitch guitars in its intro and has a thrash metal side to it at times, another devastating song. "Arrival" follows in the same footsteps with a maelstrom of guitar melodies and aggressive Death Metal shrieks.
Some other highlights are the technical Death Metal masterpiece, "Sarkikos", which serves a nice dish of cold Black Metal with a main appetizer of a bulldozer rolling over you endlessly. "Magor Missabib" is also a nice violent approach that should appeal to fans of DIVINE EMPIRE and BEHEMOTH. The title track is also a really solid and memorable track, which in parts does remind me in its groove of OBITUARY.
Trust me all you fans of pure and aggressive Black Metal, you will have a lot to sink your teeth into with this one. The power found on this album could rip any soul apart and leave you wanting for more.<
