Before I go all Satanic Fan Girl on the album, please read the fantastic review on The Satanist

Now it is my turn. Every once in a while an album comes along and blows your mind. An album that defines a genre. METALLICA's "Master Of Puppets", PANTERA's "Vulgar Display Of Power", GUNS 'N ROSES' "Appetite for Destruction", LINKIN PARK's "Hybrid Theory", MACHINE HEAD's "The Blackening" are a few examples, I'm sure in your head you can add to this list and will call me a wanker for not mentioning them, but anyway, "The Satanist" is on the list of elite albums made. There is no way that you are reading this review without loving the album. I was at Bloodstock for their performance of its entirety and I was blown away. The album was recorded at Warsaw's Progresja at October 8, 2016 and is now out for us to hear, the Blu-Ray edition contains more songs, but the CD is limited to nine.

"Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel" the fans shouting at the start just make you aware that Behemoth are as impressive on the stage as they are in studio. Nergal has a real stage presence, really commands it. Not a person to demand your attention, he know he already has that along with Orion, they just do their thing. The song has a very brief intro to it, just adding more anticipation; the fans were on their toes. You can hear the change in the crowd volume when the band members come on stage. The beat is very subdued, like the album. Nergal brings his raw vocal skills to the mic to get things kicking off. He notions to the crowd to get involved and they do. He already has them in the palm of his hand.

"The Satanist" has the chiming ring out as an intro, with the Latin chants shouting out into the Polish air. The melody starts with the chimes still ringing until Orion starts his drums, the female chants have turned into screams as if to welcome Nergal back to the mic. He is on cue as ever. The man is a true Blackened figure of Metal. We are merely puppets to his mercy. The tempo and atmosphere make you realize how good a live band they are, and how good in the studio they are, by not needing auto tune etc. just after the "I am the great rebellion!" shout, the band goes into a beautifully dark solo to fade out. It is amazing to see this and to be able to hear it live.

"Ben Sahar" the vocal intro from Nergal really gets the crowd going. The speed of the album is met brilliantly by the speed live. There is little to no difference. Head will have not stopped bopping and banging through this performance. The fierce raw vocals ring out in perfect harmony with the instrumentalists. Once more getting the crowd involved.

"O Father O Satan O Sun!" is the last song, its top 2 for me personally from not just this album, but their entire back catalogue. This has seemingly more feeling poured out from Nergal, the performance seems to be flawless. The chorus will not doubt be sung back from the crowd, it's a Dark karaoke. The spoken latter stages are delivered perfectly as they are on the album. The show comes to an end. Anyone who saw them do the Entire album in 2014, wherever it was, knows how good this was.
