Phil Lanzon - If You Think I'm Crazy album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: PHIL LANZON; signed via Cargo Records, hailing from England - performing Hard Rock/Progressive Rock/Symphonic Rock on the debut album entitled: "If You Think I'm Crazy" (released February 23rd, 2018).

Since formation in 2017; the quintet in question deliver their debut album: "If You Think I'm Crazy", 10 tracks ranging at around 51:76; the quartet in question arrange an intricately designed development of from what I gather - easy-listening and radio-friendly distinctions. Starting off with "Mind Over Matter", this incentive caught me by surprise...with expectations low, they stayed that way as I began to listen. Phil Lanzon on lead vocals consists of clean; adroit singing, nothing entirely peculiar... however, the algorithm here demonstrates rhythmic proficiencies that are adimrably commendable – as well an abundant amount of instruments including the Hammond B3, Piano, Rhodes, Wurly and the Geoshred...the man is certainly talented and deserves the credit where it is due.

"Kelly Gang" consists of complex diversity from Joe Atkins on the Piccolo Trumpet, showcasing unique elements and consistent executions that are quite astonishing, I somewhat start to enjoy myself more in the next song "I Knew I Was Dreaming" - as Sarah Joy implements a unique effect with the Pedal Steel and Banjo, providing distinguishable efficaciousness in which supply concrete enlightenments and excellent performances. "I Saw Two Englands" conveyed more bouncy characteristics, with catchy grooviness and thumpy fulfillments - as James Graydon portrays elegant Acoustic Guitar salubriousness, creatively distributing an exquisite formula of uplifting atmospheres and melodious contrast - diligently remarkable stuff so far.

"Step Overture" is the most energetically relentless in structure of Metal finesse that we thrive for here at Metal Temple; while it is an instrumental, it dominated with solid dexterity from John Mitchell on the lead guitar - efficiently establishing a hard-hitting contribution of battering riffs and solos, only to disappointingly end it there in the next song "Lover's Highway" - nothing wrong with that, just tones down the power a bit. Laurence Cottle on bass captivates me with pummeling flamboyancy; as the jumpy "Donna & Joe" flourished with an adept songwriting aesthetic, and a fluidly organic substance that grabbed and hooked me with a grandiose manifestation of dynamic attributions and adequately composed coherencies.

"Carolin" continues the epic ramifications the seasoned artist has invented, as powerhouse drummer Craig Blundell details meticulous beating and skill in the next song "The Bells". Overall concluding the record with the ambient "The Forest"; I was very surprised to see my original expectations exceeded...While this is a Metal magazine; it is still good to variate with new discoveries that are unprecedented, PHIL LANZON here should excel you with a delightful experience...if you are interested.
