Faustian Mass
Old Wolf
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: OLD WOLF; signed via Divebomb Records, hailing from the United States Of America - performing Heavy Metal, on their debut album entitled: "Faustian Mass" (released January 12th, 2018).
Since formation in 2015; the quintet in question have a Demo and a Split behind them, I am introduced to their first album entitled: "Faustian Mass". 10 tracks ranging at around 42:57 - the quintet in question deliver an intricately designed arrangement of Heavy Metal developments. The .44s introductory track: "Beyond The Void" starts off the record, until the hard-hitting "Executioner's Hymn" begins. OLD WOLF provide a solid slab of concrete distinctions, with bouncy instrumentation and proficient musicianship - battering with creatively dynamic executions that demonstrate catchy grooves and melodious efficaciousness which amalgamates with blistering riffs and solos that flourish with detail and grit.
Consisting of Ric Langford on vocals; the front man supplies a consistently complex formula of clean, high-pitched singing in the song "Divine Heretic" - screaming with a vengeance in almost every song. Showcasing dominate dexterity from guitarist Jacob Wilson, "Trail Of Tears" distributes an organic aesthetic of efficiently composed diligence in which has a crunchy yet audible substance to it. Powerhouse drummer Philip Keeney establishes pummeling adroitness as he thumps with hammering maliciousness, the titular track relentlessly captivates one with salubrious savageness. "Old Wolf" has an assault of a frenzied barrage of thunderous creativity and motivating craftsmanship, hardened with rhythmic adroitness and finesse.
Josh Campbell on bass has a grandiose manifestation of pulverizing contributions in the song "The Wisdom Of The Black Flame", where the songwriting comprises of uncompromised yet old school Heavy Metal prominence - an energetically fun track full of rapidly swift characteristics, balanced with elegantly exquisite sound production qualities. "Your Keeper" excelled with chaotic yet progressively technical mayhem, which kept me enjoyably entertained. While "Gail" advanced with more admirable orchestrations that were delightfully commendable. Overall concluding the record with "Howl"; I am compelled to say that for a first outing, OLD WOLF certainly outdone themselves with this one.
Definitely worth checking out.
