Expulser - Fornications (Reissue) album cover

EXPULSER is an Old School Death/Thrash Metal band from Brazil. Hailing from the small city of Lavras in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, the band was influential in the Brazilian Metal scene of the late 80's. They managed to churn out no less than four demos and two full-length albums as well as a compilation album in 2017. "Fornications" is a demo of the band re-released by Greyhaze Records as an EP and is much sought after by fans of the band. They have a cult following in their native Brazil and this is the demo that started the entire craze. The songs were released originally on a split EP with BRUTAL DISTORTION on Maggot Records from France. Greyhaze Records have since brought the band to the forefront and several other releases from the catalogue are planned for re-release. Although the band split up in 2004, they have since been revived by their original bassist in 2015. Despite their relative disappearance from the Metal scene, the band has made a strong impression on fans.

The total runtime of the EP is just over 12 minutes and although a little on the shorter side, this is an EP that fans of the Old School Death/Thrash Metal sound will lap up quickly. Fans of SARCOFAGO and early SEPULTURA will relate to this EP. The opening track "Vomiting in Paradise" is the longest track on the album, just shy of six minutes. This track made its appearance on the band's first demo although that version lasted just under two minutes. The second brutal song called "The Offensor" is just under the four-minute mark and makes its first appearance in the "Bloody Cross of J.Christ" demo that appeared in 1990. The earlier version is a seven-minute long track which has now been trimmed to a respectable three and a half minute long song in the re-release.

The band went through line-up issues in the 90's although they managed to put out three demos and a couple of full-length albums since then. The band has since been revived by the original bassist, Alessandro Lima, in 2015. They have released a compilation album in 2017 called "Fornications on the Bloody Cross" that contains 18 tracks. This EP came out in 2017 as well and should please fans of SARCOFAGE, BLASPHEMY and BATHORY.
