"Brothers In Blood", the third full length album for PROJECT PAIN hits January 20, 2018. This aptly titled Netherlands based thrash metal band was formed in 2011 and released their first album "I Have Sinned" in 2012 and their second album "Thrashed to Kill" in 2015. Now the band returns to deliver ten aggressively pulverizing tracks set to send their listeners head banging to the point of whiplash.
The influence of classic, old school thrash is evident in the sound of PROJECT PAIN. These guys are directly to the point with head banging, fist pumping, thrash metal tunes sure to invigorate the mosh pit. The opening track, "Primator" starts off with Serge annihilating the skins. Drilling guitar riffs and harmonizing parts highlight the track against Bauke's coarse vocals, which put me immediately in the mind of SLAYER. "Silent Invader" offers up another slaughterous tune driven by the maniacal thundering of the man behind the drums. The track is anything, but a silent invader ironically enough.
My personal favorite track was "Final March", there was a bit of groove metal feel to the riffing style that reminded me a little of LAMB OF GOD. With this track particularly, there is a more melodic approach taken without blunting the blow. The guitar chord progression during the refrain really caught my ear. A ripping guitar solo ends off the track tumultuously. "Regret Nothing" blasts with more of the hard hitting thrash sound, against an anthemic refrain. Marc executes another flawless guitar solo and shows off with some effects.
Title track, "Brothers In Blood" is a roaring blood bath from start to finish sure to insight a riot in the pit. Similarly, closing track, "I Don't Give a Fuck" is a thrash metal maelstrom. The title speaks for itself. This might be the most barbarous, in your face track on the album, but the listener can be the judge. Prepare to be drop kicked, or possibly beheaded zombie apocalypse style as depicted on their album cover, with PROJECT PAIN's "Brothers In Blood" an album that will appeal to fans legendary thrash metal gods like MEGADETH and SLAYER.
