The Outer Limits - Apocalypto album cover

Inspired by 80s Bay area Thrash Metal acts, THE OUTER LIMITS have been getting attention around their home country of Bulgaria for their brand of Thrash Metal. Unflinching in their assault within the first minutes of "Outlive the Death" from their sophomore album "Apocalypto", the song clamps down on your skull and doesn't let go. The band doesn't believe in pulling punches with their Classic Thrash sound, or delivery of lyrics. It's a very fitting testament to the masters of Thrash like EXODUS, SODOM, and KREATOR.

"Thrashin' Maniacs" is the finest example with guitar notes spewing whirling chords around themselves set against traditional blast beat drums. There's a beautifully chaotic solo in "Coma" that leaves you dizzy. It's a nonstop thrash party with THE OUTER LIMITS, and their party is just getting started! "Greater Than God" has the best hooks in the whole album, and it's guaranteed to get anyone moving. The biggest complaint I have about the song is that the tempo has a tendency to change more than once like it couldn't decide on one, so it just settled on a bunch, and it's regrettably short.

The whole album is aggressive and unrelenting with beats that burrow under your skin like evil, little mites. They even bring a hint of Bulgarian Folk influences in their guitar work, and you can hear it strongly in the intro to "The Final Day". "Apocalypto" is ideal for any Thrash lover, and it's always entertaining to hear Thrash from different corners of the world, in general. The end of the world is coming, but boy do we have a killer soundtrack!
