Affiliated With The Suffering is Blood Red Throne's second full length album, following up the 2002 mini-cd A Taste For Blood.
For anyone not yet familiar with the band, the line-up centres around the two ex-Satyricon members Tchort and Død. Like their previous material it is safe to say that there aren't any big surprises on offer here, just straight, skull bashing technical Death Metal sounding mostly like a cross between Deicide and Cannibal Corpse (two influences the band openly confesses to as well). Personally I find it quite refreshing to see that there are still bands out there that stick to doing what they are good at, and Blood Red Throne does exactly that.
Most of the tracks on offer here are high-speed riff monsters, with the occasional mid-tempo groove bit thrown in for some variation. Personal favourites are Bleeders Lament, Razor Jack and Malediction but it's safe to say that all of the songs are well above average. Couple this with a rather excellent production and what we have here might not be an album that is groundbreaking or offer anything new, but certainly delivers the goods.
As far as i'm concerned Affiliated With The Suffering ranks amongst the better Death Metal albums released this year and if your a fan of this particular style (or the band itself) it's safe to say that you won't be dissapointed.
