Paralysis Rise
Wilderness Dream

Bay Area WILDERNESS DREAM in just 20 mins of their Paralysis Rise EP, out for Creator Destructor Records, are not only able to show off their skills but also to distill a good blend of death, trash and hardcore, all with a darkened attitude. An instrumental intro, "Venom" starts off the EP, at first with feedbacks and then head shattering riffs. "Ghost" delicious speed and rhythm carry on, with backing vocals to juxtapose Ben Murray voice, in a delightful hardcore way: in the middle it winds down, still heavy at heart. "The Awakening" sees this alternation continuing, with the insertion of guitar leads in between. "Spiritual Predator" shatters listeners from start to end, with its speed and trashing riffs, never taking a breath nor stopping, even when micro breakdowns could induce thoughts of WILDERNESS DREAM lifting the foot from the pedal.
"The Lie" follows the same path, delivering heavy stomps in the face with no hint of release: masochistic thoughts of "please get rid of this breakdown, I want to get punched in the face again" appear. Tempo goes down with "No Light", but slower doesn't mean lighter and they keep us under their heavy foot. "The Observer" is a crushing and heavy riffed ambush: harsh hardcore spitted vocals greet the listener for one final punch in the guts, in a vortex of crying riffs. In less than half an hour WILDERNESS DREAM lay down a solid metal record, able to bring new life to well-known foundation: no visible flaws are exposed, the band is skilled on the song writing and leaves no space for boredom, with a peculiar ability of actually making each song look as it was well longer, as each track is uniquely full of several ideas, rhythms and influences.
