The Ascension
Casket Robbery

When PANTERA and other bands were setting the foundations of Groove Metal, no one could say how the style would evolve to such range of musical aspects. I say that because some bands have a clear influence of Groove Metal without even knowing that. It seems that the genre will keep on for a long time, because every day a good name arises from the underground playing this nasty form of music. One promising name is from the North American quintet from Madison (Wisconsin) called CASKET ROBBERY. Their EP "The Ascension" is really very good.
With the abrasive and slow paced tempos of Groove Metal, but with a violent and brutal insight that can pulverize your bones to dust. But the musical arrangements are very good, turning the audition of "The Ascension" a very good experience. A raw and grasping form of energy flows from their musical work, and the band uses a fine instrumental technique. The production of this EP is very good, with a fine choice for the instrumental tunes. It sounds brutal and oppressive like a mammoth, aggressive as Hell, but always with the insight that the listener must understand what they are playing. So it's clear that they have chosen a very good balance between the aggressiveness, weight and the needed sound clarity.
With only three brutal and good songs, you can bet that their musical work will catch you, because their way of playing is really charming. "Pockets Lined With Flowers" is a more simple song, with abrasive guitar riffs and very good amount of weight. The catching melodies of the brutal "The Ascension" are really excellent, with the very good tunes of vocals (and their vocalist knows how to use her voice, because her set of vocal tunes is really amazing). And "Lilith" is a bolt of musical aggressiveness, with very good technical work from bass guitar and drums, releasing a brutal rush energy.
Their work is really fine, but as "Ascension" is just an EP, we wait until their second album is released. Maybe it will be a hit!
