MOON HAVEN is an Alternative Prog Rock band that was born in the USA in 2015. They are compared to bands like BREAKING BENJAMIN and CHEVELLE and are influenced by bands like IRON MAIDEN, KATAONIA, and ANATHEMA, along with the aforementioned. They released their debut full-length album "Monochrome Reflections" in July of 2017 with strong acclamation. This album comes in with ten tracks and a listening time of 41 minutes.

The opening track "Monochrome" comes in with a deep paino and a whispered vocal. It's reminiscent of inner talk. How we speak to ourselves. It's heavy, deep, and unfaltering. It fades out with the final thought "Let's be real, I don't want to concur the world." Leading into an emptiness that is picked up in the next track.

 "Veil Of Grey" comes in lightly, but still cloaked in the depth the opener provided. A soft played guitar starts off, with a bit of bass intertwined. The bass is a heavy lifter in this one. While the guitars and drums create the atmosphere, the bass is the meat. A nicely done guitar solo towards the end of the track is worth noting. The vocals are soft and I feel like are more 10 YEARS, Jesse Haske style. He's got that same range of the softer Rock vocal to the higher pitched Rocker style.

Track four, "Transparent", is incredible. It has all the goodness that an Alternative Prog Rock track should have. The guitars are solid and create an incredible atmosphere. The bass is thick and has that perfect chunkiness to it. The one that makes an Alt Prog Rock track the best ever, yeah, that. The drums are softer, but still have a Bluesy sway about them. This one is one of the best overall tracks on the album. The balance is nicely done and you can feel the musicianship.

"Shattered", track seven, is a bit harder and has an incredible lead riff. The bass again gets a little love and performs his part flawlessly. This track is another that is cohesive, balanced, and has a clear musicianship. The creativity in this one is impressive, with a bit of Spanish flare. The vocals are really great in here and we get to experience some heavier grittier vocals as well.

The final track, "Luna", is a softer guitar and key start with a low-key vocal. The drums and bass come in, but it still keeps its lighter vibes. This track seems a bit more muted than the rest. I can't tell if its intentional, but it works either way. I enjoy the vibes from this one, there is electric, there is acoustic, and there is a real talent.

Moon Haven's "Monochrome Reflections" reminds me of an early 2000's era Alt Rock group. How the electric has that softer, sometimes acoustic feeling. The album itself is light, but grim and grabs the listener through their emotions. There are some production quality issues, but not to the point where they overtake the goodness of the album. "Monochrome Reflections" is everything a great Alternative Prog Rock debut release should be and if you're feeling like you need some new Rock in your life, I highly recommend this one.
