Unruly Child - Can't Go Home album cover

I chose this album by mistake but it turned out to be a pretty good mistake. I am not the biggest Hard Rock fan out there but the appeal of the genre is part nostalgia and part curiosity. They bring alot to the table and you see they have had major experience in the music business. They have been at it more than 25 years and keep coming out with new albums. The lead singer Marcie Free was once a founding member of KING KOBRA with the legendary (and underrated) Carmine Appice. She has been at this for a long time and really shows that she has some major pipes. She a strong voice and from what I saw on live footage, she does have a great stage presence. The first song is called ''The Only One''. It sounds straight out of the eighties. I felt it sounded like some SHERIFF. The side project of the lead guitarist of STYX back in the day. The second song is called ''Four Eleven''. The singer sounds a lot like Klaus Meine from THE SCORPIONS. Even the song sounds a bit like the German legends. Though it really does sound more commercial than them.

The third song is called ''Driving into the Future''. Wow, this sounds really 80's! Something reminiscent of shows like Miami Vice and Magnum P.I.! It has enjoyable keyboards but it's a pretty forgettable song. The fourth song is called ''Get on Top''. It really sounds like the mid tempo stuff from DEF LEPPARD, nothing remarkable but it's enjoyable to listen to nonetheless. The fifth song is called ''See if she Floats''. Well that's a pretty odd title for a song...You have alot of programming on this song and felt it sounded like some good old FOREIGNER. Catchy chorus. Actually, I would say it sounds like TRAIN, commercial rock at its best. Easy listening tune. The sixth song is called ''She Can't Go Home''. This is pretty much the title track of the album. Well this could have been a hit song for WHITESNAKE back in the day, solid catchy pop rock song. The seventh song is called ''Point of View''. Nothing mindblowing on this one. Mostly resembling the Pop Rock period of YES. Nothing groundbreaking but its an ok song.

The eighth song is called ''Ice Cold Sunshine''. The singer still sounds like Klaus Meine on this one! I felt the song fell flat, it has an ok chorus but I just couldn't get involved in the song unfortunately. The ninth song is called ''When Love is Here''. This is probably the cheesiest song of the album. It sounds like the mid tempo VAN HALEN songs when Sammy Hagar was the lead singer. I have no problem with that and it's still really fun to listen to. The tenth song is called ''Sunlit Sky''. Well this sounded like a more commercial version of the mid nineties YNGWIE MALMSTEEN albums minus the guitar shreddring nonetheless. The eleventh and last song of the album is called ''Someday Somehow''. Why is there a love crowd at the beginning of the song, well that's an awful good question. The song is definitely not live and I still don't understand why they put live crowd noises on a studio recording. Its a very energetic and catchy song, similar to some of the stuff from a band like SURVIVOR back in the day. A solid but unspectacular release but they still a great job in the genre.
