Stormage - Dead Of Night album cover

STORMAGE is a Heavy Metal band from Germany currently releasing their third full length album; "Dead of Night," this year's follow up to 2005's "Balance of Power" and 2007's "Sudden Awakening." Their first work ever to be released to Massacre Records Germany. Admirable, conscientious and overwhelming, what can one say as a reviewer when a band has all the elements that one likes? The approach used to produce "Dead of Night" serves as a reminder of the Golden Age of Metal that we are living nowadays, with more and more underground media, elements and concepts dedicated to making all the subgenres and the multiple characteristics of Metal better and better with every passing day.

The intro on "Instinct to Defend" reflects the modern dystopia in which we live in, and which we can escape all the same as soon as the first notes of this song begin to play all the way to the end of the album. A storm of an album, that allows modern day metal a breath of fresh air and the motivation to carry on in case of facing a lost battle against the daily lies of mainstream media, fake news and conformity to belong to a system that sees us as nothing more than consumers. An undivided selection of some of Germany's best modern talent for Metal sewn together in this third full length album that provides Metal Maniacs everywhere with an outstanding example of the elements that have made this type of music that we all love, an unstoppable force for almost half a century now; It is great to welcome these warriors to the Metal Temple right in the "Prime of Life" accompanied by the choir of cherubs leading the way, my oh my, what a sublime and unexpected way to end a song.  A true must in ever Hard Rock/Melodic Heavy Metal connoisseur.

The concepts developed by some of Metal's lyricists would sometimes make history's greatest philosophers tremble in dismay at their own intellectual foundations, a "Faithless God" is both a tremendous philosophical conundrum and one of the best accomplished tracks on Dead of Night; a piece of contemporary art wielding both technicality and Harmony at the same time, the manner of building a song like this should award the members of STORMAGE a place in the pursuit for the never ending effort of the keeping of the flame for the upcoming years and future struggles defending all for which they and we have stood up for all these years. A song that rages with sounds that fluctuate with influences that verge from SENTENCED to KAMELOT all while keeping a full throttle à la Mike Terrana. The true heirs of the style of such legends as RAINBOW, HELLOWEEN and BLIND GUARDIAN. It makes my head rest assured when I know the Metal tradition is carried by such accomplished individuals as these.
