Renegade Twelve - Renegade Twelve album cover

I am always impressed by bands that self-release their albums. You have to have a lot of faith in your songs to do it. It takes alot of guts and it's not always easy to do it. I guess it's a pretty painstaking task to do it, with all the time and effort you put in it. The quality of the production is extremely good, I was blown away at times that this was not a commercial release.

The cover of the album is pretty sweet, I thought it looked a bit like the skeletal Native American that ANTHRAX uses on some posters. I thought it was a pretty nice cover album if I would say so myself!

I read some interviews here and there on many websites and they talked about this band being a very Adult Oriented Rock band. I have to disagree, there is some elements on some songs, a bit more on the first single ''Heroes of Mine'' but I definitely didn't feel the same way they did. I think their sound is a nice blend of Classic Hard Rock with a touche of European Power Metal. The double guitar work on many of the songs, especially the awesome opening song ''Mad Max'' made me think of early HAMMERFALL or IRON SAVIOR. It was catchy but still pretty heavy.

One great thing going for this band is their singer, boy does this guy has some serious pipes! He has an impressive range, he actually doesn't sound the same on each song. He adapts and adjusts his voice to the tempo of the song. Sometimes he sings like the awesome Hard Rock singers like Joe Elliott or Jon Bon Jovi and sometimes he adds some roughness to his voice and sounds a bit like Udo Dirkschneider from ACCEPT. I like the diversity of his voice and this was something that made me really love the band. He is sometimes overshadowed but the banging rhythm of the double guitar work especially on some groovy tracks like ''This Town'' and ''Vanity''. Those tracks really reminded me of some of the best Groove Metal of the mid nineties. It was something unheard back then and a lot of bands copies the sounds of bands like PANTERA. RENEGADE TWELVE dip their toes in the genre but they don't overdo it.

I really enjoyed the instrumental song ''Yeah Boi''. It was quite a departure from the rest of the album and I was pleasantly surprised to see the diversity of the band members and every instrument is put in the forefront.

A nice mix of classic hard rock and power metal rolled into a very very promising UK band!
