ANNISOKAY is a five-piece Post-hardcore band from Germany. Being singed in 2014, these guys have already released three full-length albums. Their debut was released in 2014, their sophomore in 2015 and their third "Devil May Care" in summer of 2016. "Devil May Care" comes in with ten tracks and a listening time of just over 38 minutes.

The opening track "Loud" comes in a little light with a white noise variation that quickly turns into a catchy track. Metalcore was just coming into a thing when I started really becoming engrossed in other genres and these guys bring back that nostalgic feeling, but in all honestly, this is better than anything I was listening to, except for maybe PARKWAY DRIVE. Which, I fully think ANNISOKAY is on par with. The clean vocals are sort of Davey Havok of AFI (as much as some people don't like this group, this guy has pipes on him) and paired with that barked growl is very nice. The musical elements pull you in from the start and keep that pull throughout the track.

"What's Wrong" starts of more ballade-esque and continues on the little softer from the first, but does begin to harden up a bit as it progresses. The growled vocals and the flow of the clean lyrics are again a great contrast to each other. However, it's the music that stands out in this one. It's more of a Hard Rock sound, but the intricate details create a well rounded and over all a pretty unique track.

Track three "Smile" and its bass; bass for days. This is a much harder and much faster track. It is also a bit lower. The guitars are lower but also create wondrous contrast to the bass and drums. This is one of my favorite tracks on the album. The bass creates the extra power in this track that drew me in.

"Blind Lane", track five, starts off more Rock-ish, then gets harder, reverts back, and then back again. There are some Pop-esque elements here as well, but it is catchy and not to the point of being overwhelming. This one, to me, is their version of the 'love' ballade. The growled vocal comes in late, but in this one, the cleans take center stage leaving what little growled vocals there are in the background.

Track seven, "Hourglass" has a sexier technical grove to it. The vocals, both sets, set this track on fire, but the unsung hero here is the drums. Vaeen is a complete rock star. Now, his work in the rest of the album is really very good, this track, he just shines. Keep shinning.

The final track, "The Last Planet", starts soft and grows. It has an Atmospheric way to it, probably hinting to the name, no? The energy gets much stronger, vocals more emotional, and the music heavier. It feels like that goodbye track. That track you play when you're about to make the big change. This is that one. Really awesome work in this one, not one element outshines the other, a perfect balance.

I didn't have high hopes coming into this review based solely on the fact ANNISOKAY released three full-length albums in three years. While I know that these guys probably had tons and tons of tracks already written, I just get a vibe more often than not that the musicianship isn't going to be there. I was wrong about this one. While this genre isn't known for its powerful technicality, these guys have a lot to offer the Metalcore lover. "Devil May Care" will not disappoint.
