The Watchers

THE WATCHERS is a band that is put in multiple genres of Rock, so well just say, they are a Rock band that is influenced by Classic Rock and Heavy Metal elements. They are a group of seasoned musicians that have come together to create music. THE WATCHERS debut EP "Sabbath Highway" comes in with five tracks and a listening time of just over sixteen and a half minutes.
Track one, "Sabbath Highway" starts the album off in a high-speed Classic Rock meets an Alternative groove style. The musicianship is clear right off the bat. There is nothing better than when the first track allows the listeners to immediately get drug into good music without the wait time. The guitars and drums are great, but the bass is the backbone. The vocals are clean and definitely Rock level.
"Requiem", track two, is a short one-minute ode to keys. It's an organ filled interlude showing another side to this experienced group, reminding me a lot of church. The last ten seconds turn this into something otherworldly and creates the perfect transition to track three "Call The Priest". "Call The Priest" is a little lower, but still has all the energy from the first track, but slowed down a bit. The vibrational low tones give life to the Alternative feel. The vocals are SOUND GARDEN-esque, with their obvious differences. The bass and the guitar and the drums are so beautifully composed. Then, enter the guitar solo that has a weird drum cymbal cameo. While this solo was good, it was distracting from the overall track.
Track four "Today" starts fast and full of energy. It's a higher-toned track that has guitar solos that rival the best in the Classic Rock field. The bass is amazing and gets to have some of the spotlight, while the guitar shreds your face off and the drums give this track all the feeling. This track is an expertly cohesive piece and shows off the bands abilities well. The final track "Just a Needle" is another track that has more of their Alternative feel. The bass, oh my, the bass is phenomenal. While a good bassist knows their importance to the track, the best can do it and create even more within it. This is that track. While the rest of the elements are great, the bass really pulls it together and creates an interesting and unique sound.
The technicality THE WATCHERS show in this debut is inspiring. It is obvious there is a level of musicianship here that can draw in listeners of Rock and Metal and most sub genres of both. Check these guys out. "Sabbath Highway" will not disappoint in the Lighter Metal and Hard Rock ways.
