Being from Finland can mean a lot of things. One of them is that you either play Black or Death metal; but what if it's Thrash? (A criminally underrated genre in that country?) SOULWOUND is one of those Thrash bands! Their new, 2016 record entitled "No Peace" proves that there are still some gems of this genre, even in those countries where the genre isn't praised that much, unlike in others.

"Intro: Impulsive Aggression" is just what the name of the track suggests, an intro track (no shit). It starts off with the famous Joker line saying "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we are tonight's entertainment". The reason for why there are not too many Thrash Metal bands in Finland might be due to their highly aggressive melodic sound; and people surrounded by such bands will be more likely to use those influences in their sound. It might be a bad, or a good thing, depends on your view.

The second song "Hurt Me Plenty" is a brutal track of slightly extraordinary Thrash Metal. The vocals are growl-oriented, yet still somewhat understandable, and the riffs are a bit toned down. The drums are okay, but the overall atmosphere is way too melodic for this genre, at least it is for me. Some various vocal styles can be heard, and I already sense some of the inspirations behind this band, and those are most likely to be Death Metal bands. Of course, it's fine to use some of your inspirations in your music, as long as it remains original. This band is somewhere in between. Being formed a decade ago, you could say they are still a "young" band with only a few demo tapes and two full-length studio albums behind their back.

"No Peace" is an enjoyable record, if you're into 'way too melodic Death or Thrash metal', or both mixed! Seriously, if you like those, then this band is highly recommended, but I'm warning you: you're facing some seriously original Thrash Metal, nothing like the USA or Germany based bands.
