Metal maniacs, rejoice! I'm proud to present to you: SEWERCIDE; hailing from Australian grounds, performing Death/Thrash Metal - on their debut album entitled "Immortalized In Suffering". (Released on June 13th, 2016)
Since formation 2011; the quintet in question have released a Demo, multiple Splits and an EP behind them. I'm acquainted with "Immortalized In Suffering" their debut album, implementing a distinct formulaic of Death 'n' Thrash attributes...SEWERCIDE element at an unambiguous rendition however - incorporating a modern age DEATH-esquire instrumental leaps in their musicianship. Right off the earphones; "For Those About To Rot" (not to be confused with the SOULFLY song) opens up with this intricate development, showcasing a flair of combined Death 'n' Thrash atmosphere...harmonizing at pummeling instrumentation. "A Dying Dream" & "Snares Of Carnality" continue to destroy my eardrums with an excessively yet excruciatingly loud sound production that may seem like METALLICA's "Death Magnetic" territory, yet I actually liked that record and this here seems to be no exception.
"Immortalized In Suffering" evolves out of an aggressive Death 'n' Thrash sound and showcase their main territory is to that of Death Metal; important and revered influences stem from American bands such as MORBID ANGEL, GORGUTS & IMMOLATION. Alva on bass/vocals contributes fairly nicely with complex brutalization, upholding a destructive sound production on the bass with rhythm and progressive elements here and there - while the vocals are just what to expect in Death Metal...guttural growls galore! The Shark on guitars formulates dexterity in his adroitness of riffing insanity. Jamie Colic on lead guitars efficiently composes with unique progression; exercising at dexterous incentive to blow your minds. The crushing Ollie Ballantyne on drums smashes his way sufficiently through a memorable aesthetic and original substance that satiates the hungry listener for pure, aggressive, gore-soaked Death Metal.
"Immortalized In Suffering" is 9 tracks long; ranging at around 36:01, not too long...and not overly excessive. "Interlude In Agony" is a .56s prelude to the agonizing "Acrimoniously Disharmonized", tormenting eardrums with a groovy punch line of the most extreme Death Metal one would expect. "Pierced With Sentiment Trepity", "Megalithic Tomb" & "Infinifixion" continue this trend with some of the most unprecedented riffs and unsympathetic songwriting that's both memorable and original in their own ways. Concluding with "Eternal (In Spirit)" overall compels me to evaluate that SEWERCIDE contribute to the Death Metal sub-genre brilliantly, valiantly excelling at convoluted musicianship all round. As a Death Metal purist; I was intrigued by this release, granted I went in with medium expectations - though I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed a nice solid slab of crushing Death Metal clarity.<
