SUPREMACY hails from France born in 2013 with their first demo release. 2014 began this Groove Metal bands adventure in their first EP "Start Up A Fight". Now, in 2016 we get an idea of what these guys can do. "Start Up A Fight" comes in with five tracks and listening time of just under thirty minutes. Track one, "Supremacy", starts off with a march-esque drum followed by sirens and an intense but surprisingly low guitar. The vocals are very gruff and low, but still considered clean. There are some pretty technical elements in this track.
"Jail", track two, is a little more Thrashy and fast while still keeping the core of Groove Metal alive. It almost sounds like a METALLICA track meets PANTERA. This track is unique and allows for the listener to get another idea of their level of musicianship. This track is fast and loud, which directly leads into, up to this point the most mellow song of the EP. Track three, "Gates Of End" is much more mellow of a track than what we have seen thus far on the EP. The beginning is an intro pluck piece via the guitars. This transitions into a much heavier, but still mellow, track. The vocals are thick with accent and to some it could be distracting, but I find it an added element that even further carves out their own sound.
"Welcome Into My Head", track four, is a low and guttural track, but the tempo is back and so are the crunchy and hard hitting elements the SUPREMACY has been delivering in this EP. This track is phenomenal. There is so much going on here, but it comes together brilliantly. This is, to me, their "it" sound. Everything was so immaculately produced. The final track, "On The Road Of Broken Dreams", is the longest track on the album. It also has some of the most transitions. It starts off as if its going to be one of those Classic Rock ballads, but the drums come in, soft but start speeding everything up a bit. Then at about the minute mark it gets harder and darker. At about four minutes and 30 seconds in, the track is a complete Thrashy Groove Metal smorgasbord. This is good stuff.
SUPREMACY's EP "Start Up A Fight" is intriguing and artful. The EP allows the listener to hear and feel the different emotions presented in each track. There is a mixture of elements that allow for a mixture of listeners. This EP shows that these guys are on track to create some great things.
