Black Fate is a Power and Progressive Metal band from Greece, born in 1990. The band suffered from many lineup changes throughout its life. Even with this rocky issue, the band has released many demos throughout their history. They have also released four full-length albums, including "Deliverance of Soul" in 2009. The band has since reissued "Deliverance of Soul". This album comes in with eleven tracks and a listening time of about 42 minutes. The intro track, "Children if Aniramas" is full of ethereal life. It starts with a beautiful symphony with radio talking interference and helicopters - think war; and of course children in the background. It's the "lets go to battle" track.
"Dying Freedom", track two, starts with a very small drum intro that gives uniqueness to this track right off the bat. The guitars shred hard. The vocals are what I lovingly dub as hairband vocals. Except, these pipes are exceptional. There is so much goodness in this track. The Progressive elements tone down the Power a little. It's a track that I listen to and can pick apart everything that shouldn't be there, yet they make it work phenomenally. "Dying Freedom" shows perfect musicianship. Track four "Angry Silent Scream" is something many people feel at some point in their lives. This is that feeling brought to life. The power of the drums, the groan of the bass, the dancing guitars, and the mixture of brief growled vocal and the clean bellowing vocals bring soul to into a very real and very potent human reaction.
"Wicked", track eight, is the shortest vocally expressive track on the album at just over two minutes. It brings the album down a little from its high-energy pedestal. The track is acoustic and the vocals are soft and passionate. It gives a wonderful interlude. Track ten, "Inner Warning of My Soul" starts of strong and grows from there. The musicianship is powerful. Every element of this track is cosmic. The vocals are softer still, but the music is grandiose. The guitars are outstanding throughout. There is even a lovely little bass snippet that warms my heart.
The final track of the album "Fallen" is riddled in power. The bass is glorious. This track alone allows the bass to stand out a little more than the rest. At first, I thought this track was a little out of place, like this wasn't an ending track. While I still feel like that, the track itself is perfectly written and allows each member's qualities show. The end of the track is definitely off, but does create something that stands out and will be remembered. BLACK FATE's re-issue of "Deliverance of Soul" is better than ever. The album is classical, powerful, and beautiful. It is full of passion and emotion. It gives life to feelings most people experience within their own life. "Deliverance of Soul" is an album is the alive and gripping.
