ARCHAIC DECAPITATORS are the sign that good underground Metal isn't too hard to find, yes that might give away how I feel about this album already, but I'm willing to kick this off with BUY THIS RECORD. $5 on Bandcamp isn't much to ask for, it's 5 songs and it's kickass Melodic Death Metal, what do you have to complain about?

To kick off the album you have "Parasomniac" and the title track "Light of a Different Sun" to welcome you with steady paced MeloDeath. Intriguing riffs and exceptional solos, especially in the latter, keep you glued to what's happening and the exceptional musicianship complements to harsh and melodic vocals well. "The Three Poisons" implements some more styles including keys to almost give the song a Symphonic more WINTERSUN feel as well as a couple breakdowns that even the most anti breakdown elitist could get behind, the song is fast paced and heavy in all the right ways.

To close out the album you have "Cult of Reanimators" which is another straight to the point MeloDeath song that has more of an Old School Death Metal feel. Along side that you have "Face of Asag" which implements more Technical sounds along the lines of BEYOND CREATION and who doesn't like a little BEYOND CREATION in their tunes every once in a while? The tone of the bass in this song is especially exceptional, around the 2:15 Mark listening to it under the slower riffs and harsh vocals is excellent.

The tone of this entire album is awesome, the riffs are catchy and full of hooks, the musicianship is too notch and the vocals are heavy but not hard to understand and don't take away from the instrumentals the way some bands do. All in all "Light of a Different Sun" is probably one of this year's best Death Metal releases and is definitely worth any MeloDeath fans time.
