Born on the West Coast of the United States of America in 2012, R.I.P. is here with their debut album "In The Wind". R.I.P. also released a demo album in their first year. "In The Wind" comes in with ten tracks and about 54 minutes of listening time. The album was created to show the world that Doom Metal isn't only about how low and de-tuned the sound can be, but it being "about fear, death, leather, and playing as heavy as possible." The intro track "The Scythe" is exactly that, an intro. It lets us hear a little bit of the musicianship without vocals. Its low, heavy, and for a track just over a minute and thirty seconds, it gives a strong indicator of what the music holds in the rest of the album.

Track two, "In The Wind, Pt. 1" is the foreteller of the album in its entirety. While there are elements that change through out the listening time, this is the basic version of R.I.P. Super low, super heavy, de-tuned, but a clean vocal that is perfectly integrated. "In The Wind, Pt. 2" is much more energetic and has more melody and more guitar riffage. It isn't super low, like the first part, but still has very low undertones and elements that keep the track spooky and ominous. The vocals help keep this vibe to the end. With just about a minute left to the track, R.I.P. pulls out some incredible guitar work.

The final part of "In The Wind" and the final track of the album "In The Wind, Pt. 3" starts off much softer. There is a feeling of dread and doubtfulness in this track. It's one of the longest tracks on the album thus creating a ton of room to allow for transitions and a progressive energy shift. "In The Wind" takes me back to the metal days of BLACK SABBATH and OZZY OSBOURNE. This is old metal, but with new flare. "In The Wind" is a fun, heavy, and low album, but it is also so much more. There is melody and there is a unique musicianship. Most metal fans will find the album enjoyable albeit the production isn't the greatest of quality.
