Germany has always been known for its Thrash Metal, and the Death Metal scene has always been played second fiddle. So we have another Death Metal band trying to show what German Death Metal has got. This Hamburg based Death Metal band released their 2^nd full length album "Dicio" in April 29^th, and honestly the album artwork got me all excited for this one.

The album starts with "Risen (From The Grave)" which starts with an atmospheric tempo building sound, before the fast paced Technical Death Metal sound blasts across the speakers.  Two things that stand out with BURIED IN BLACK's sound is the fast paced groovy riffs and blast-beats, and the very likeable growling vocals. The vocals of Ron Brunke here remind of Johan Hegg of AMON AMARTH, although not exactly the same, Ron does show similarities with Hegg. There are 2 types of vocals that one can here, one if the one that I just mentioned and then occasionally in some passages there is a much more Black Metal-ish Death Metal growling vocals that pop in. Having said that, all in all, the music is very groovy and is perfect to get onto the headbanging mood. The riffs in "To The Fullest" are absolutely impeccable. As I listen to the groovy "The Undertow", it reminds me of how good the production here is. While the song does start out as being a groovy one, it moves onto become a very chaotic fast paced Death Metal song, bordering Brutal Death Metal. "The Unpleasant Truth" and "Invisible Invincible" are less groovy and kill your ears with their pace and brutality, although I wouldn't classify them as typical Brutal Death Metal songs. The groovy riffs and the insane vocals make such a big part of why these lads sound so good. The thick guitar riff with that good production really sounds exactly the way Death Metal should sound. "Bleed For Me" sounds like one of those songs that is going to be a killer in live shows, but just doesn't work in a studio album version, sad but true. "Blind Faith" sounds a bit disappointing song as it sounds generic compared to the other songs on offer here. "Goddess Of Strife" banks on fast paced signature riffs along with the eerie sounding whispering vocals, which makes the song really appealing. "The Fine Line" has some cool innovative riffs which make the song structure really interesting and appealing, reminding me about SUFFOCATION's sound a bit.  The album ends with a really groovy mid-tempo song in "Foredoomed". The riffs here are really some of the best in the entire album and are worth listening to them of repeat.

Although BURIED IN BLACK may sound like a more brutal version of AMON AMARTH with some anti-religious lyrics, but I assure you that if you give these guys a chance, "Dicio" has what it takes to get the respect of the seasoned Death Metal fans. Its 42 minutes full of orgasm for Death Metal fans.
