This is the Chicago based hard Rock Band's fourth full length release. It has probably has one of the worst covers I have seen in a very, very long time however. The first song is ''Bloodthirsty.'' The vocalist sounds like a mix of Alice Cooper and Vince Neil. There is a lot of voicebox effects. It's pretty catchy and sounds a lot like most of ALICE COOPER's last few albums. The second song is ''Here We Go Again.'' This is more of a Glam Rock song than a Hard Rock Song. This reminded very much of ''Look What The Cat Dragged In'' from POISON. Good solid song. The third song is ''Universe and You.'' They channelled their inner BEATLES on this one. It was a real throwback to the sixties. The singer sings through a Megaphone and it got on my nerves really quickly.
The fourth song is ''Hot Fudge.'' This is straight out of the 80s! It sounded a lot like early MOTLEY CRUE. There are plenty of sexual innuendos and double entendres throughout the song. It's an extremely catchy song. The fifth song is ''Along for the Ride.'' Thankfully this is a not a DREAM THEATER cover (let's face it I am huge DT fan but this song sucks!). This sounded a lot like KID ROCK (circa ''Cowboy'', a number of years back!). The sixth song is ''Voodoo Woman.'' It's a very rocking song, with high energy and there is a plethora of effects in the voice of the singer. This reminded me of some of the great EXTREME albums in the beginning of the 90's. The seventh song is called ''Love's Got Nothing on Me.'' It's a typical glam rock ballad. I am not surprised to see this type of song on the album. It reminded me ''Home Sweet Home'' and ''Beth'' in the early 80s.The eighth song is ''Hard to Get Over (You're So).'' This is just a carbon copy of THE STRUTS in my opinion...a newer band that are making a lot of waves in North America with their throwback style to Hard Rock. They are extremely catchy and have had a great impact lately on local radios throughout. You can hear the good old cowbell on this one, somewhere Christopher Walken is smiling proudly!
The ninth song is ''To be Treated.'' It's a very Punk Rock sounding song and reminded me of THE CLASH and THE SEX PISTOLS. It's a nice little touch and one of the best songs off the album. The tenth song is ''Anything It Takes.'' It's a mid-tempo song; part COLLECTIVE SOUL, part OUR LADY PEACE. Even the vocals remind me of Raine Maida from OUR LADY PEACE. The singer shows surprising range on this one.
The last song is ''From Hell.'' It starts out with a wicked bass solo and turns into an Industrial Metal Song like early MARILYN MANSON or NINE INCH NAILS. I was not expecting this at all and it kind of fell flat. Overall, there is lots of promise and one hell of a singer. They are something to watch for in the next few years.
