"Mammoth Bloody Mammoth" by MAMMOTH MAMMOTH... wow what a mouthful that is. Too bad the same can't be said for the first song on this short four song album, "Taste Your Blood". For such a strong-sounding name the song is full to bursting and nothing really stops. There is no relief because the songs title is repeated throughout as a chorus, echoing and fading as it gets repeated. "Drugs" starts off with a few seconds of deliberate feedback, and the vocals had strong influence from punk rock.

"Kick Out the Jams" is a cover of the MC5 song, and they stick close to the original but sadly don't seem to be bringing a lot of their own flavor to the mix here. Still a pretty fun song if you liked the original but for such a small album to include a cover that sticks a bit too close to the original is an odd choice. "Dead Sea" opts for a short solo for about the first minute and really switched up tone with chilling echoing vocals that fade so much into the background its a sound all its own. The instruments are more the centerpiece here and they manage to be mellow and haunting and chilling all at once.

Their band name might be a little too hairy, especially when you throw in this album title, "Mammoth Bloody Mammoth" by MAMMOTH MAMMOTH, but I think these boys from Melbourne are pretty great if you are into Stoner/Desert Metal or Sludge Metal. Give them a chance and see if you wanna take a ride on the MAMMOTH MAMMOTH.
