Invisible Radiance
Stagwounder
Into the darkest form of ecstasy, the vagueness of the occult and a quest for the paramount form of obscurity, there lays the enigma of the Doomish oblivion. The German based STAGWOUNDER in time paved the road into a kingdom made of assumption and hearsay, between belief and supposed reality; they told their version of the story as it happens from their burning minds. The band's debut album, "Invisible Radiance", is a craft of gloom, immersed by a thin layer of dejection, is the still standing barrier between inflamed Rock and deep rooted Metal aroused by a blackened kismet.
Enslaved by the blackened form of Metal music, slightly towards the Scandinavian kind of the mid 90's, STAGWOUNDER has been enjoying the majestic trance of Doom Metal. "Invisible Radiance", on its ambitious eposes, created an aura that might be rendered as pure evil, yet also left some space for beauty, perplexing as it can be. Elements of Post Rock swarmed through the breaches of tradition, sinking in the riffs and passages of the songs and in a way slightly eradicating the extremity that appeared to be the band's soul food.
Nonetheless, I wouldn't dim this release as music for the soul, well not entirely anyway. STAGWOUNDER have their way with enchanting mysticism within the lines, instigating impetuous mischiefs and emotional melodic and vocal distress that are quite powerful, especially when it comes to the buildups created on each of the songs. "Eos" and "In The Hidden Cave" proved to be the band's proudest possessions, enabling the listener to reflect upon their cryptic musicality, a measure of romanticism and preached lyrical context. The main issue with the rest of the setlist is the fact that with those bewitching moments of magnificence, there are wholesome segments that are filled up vacancies with virtually nothing, just boring ends or mere uninteresting portions. Doom Metal can get one to those places at times, even with its captivating force.
STAGWOUNDER's Black Metal crust surely lived up to be an exciting gem in their music rather than falter their efforts. "Invisible Radiance" has something mythical in its fine haze and I would sure like to explore more of this band's features.
