What's up, Black/Doom Metal maniacs? I'm here once again to give you an insight on the Polish quintet known as: CHRIST AGONY and their new EP entitled: "Black Blood".

To me; this is how you do an EP, 3 lengthy tracks (that all sound top quality) to give you a taste of what's to come in the soon to be released album. In "Black Blood" I immediately sensed a BEHEMOTH influence, so that's the band influences out of the way. This is immediately evident in the first track "Black Blood Ov Universe" typically; without research, I can already tell that with the included word that is: "Ov". Musically though, CHRIST AGONY are a Black Metal band with a taste of Doom Metal on the sides, and I really heard the atmospheric influence in these genres as I begin "Black Blood Ov Universe".

With about 12 releases behind them... Including 7 full-length albums; 4 Demos; 4 Compilation albums; 2 EPs and a Live album, CHRIST AGONY are in their prime and already since 1990, have formed an extensive fanbase from around the world. Sticking to their roots with "Black Blood", it's clear the band are hungry and talented as Hell for musical greatness. This is my first time listening to this band and I'm blown away by their BEHEMOTH-like influence. Cezar on vocals and guitar very similarly sound like Nergal from BEHEMOTH... But think of his vocals as a louder; filled with more screams of agony, in a sense, think of Doom Metal vocalists fused with Black Metal vocalists...deadly, huh?

Atmospherically and instrumentally; CHRIST AGONY develop a sound that may even surpass BEHEMOTH in their own way. "Coronation" is one of their videos which, I have copied into this link for you to check out and enjoy. Thrashier; the Black Metal side come in strong here, while Reyash helps Cezar with additional backing vocals, they really help add a fine touch of extended vocal integrity that both members have, Reyash also adds incredible but pounding bass as well as Darek on drums, this is a melodic sound that you should bow to, or at least stick those horns up to.

Another typical use of the word "Ov"; incomes the final track "Kingdom Ov Abyss". And to be honest, I can not fault this EP one bit. Top notch sound production with extremely fine Metal talent, anyone who has at least an ounce of knowledge of Black and Doom Metal will welcome this release and relish its essence tenfold. As well as add it to their collection of CDs or MP3s. With not much else to add, I'll end this review by saying what are you waiting for? Check this glory-filled winner out for yourself.
