Reign of Darkness

Power Metal and Symphonic Metal, in my eyes, are predominantly a Euro-Metal thing, so I was pleasantly surprised by this band hailing from Tampa Florida. In saying that, a lot of what these guys play is just Heavy Metal played with some strong power and symphonic metal influences. Crunching guitar riffs overlaying a piano melody with seamless elegance is an art to perfect, and they do this with class. Strong soaring vocals combined with this particular flavour of metal, tend to lift the soul high.
The first track of the album is cleverly titled, "Over-Underture", and is a great introduction to the album and leads straight into some impressive guitar riffs and lead work on the second track, "Victim Of The Night".
These guys have a flair for the dramatic and pull it all together well. They don't play predictable metal music but have plenty of original and interesting variations, which keep it from getting boring. There seems to be a certain amount of ICED EARTH and QUEENSRYCHE elements in here if I was to name a few bands for comparison. He doesn't quite the same vocal range as Geoff Tate, but Geoff is a very unique singer. But it's also the style of both those bands and their solid belief and dare to be different and original.
The end song, "Solitary Rain", is a heartfelt story of being alone, which seems to be somewhat of a theme throughout the album.
They play some catchy music that, if you're a person like me, you may very well find yourself attempting to sing-along to it, one of the fun parts of metal. CIRCLE 2 CIRCLE has created some very nicely crafted songs filled with feeling and passion that will guarantee repeat listening.<
