Good day Temple, today I bring to your attention the album "Torpor" by BARON. This small local band from the United Kingdom gave us this album that I really can't classify as only one genre of music. I would call this a Gloom Atmospheric Psychedelic Progressive Metal mix. This album is their second in 2 years, but it feels like they've been around for much longer than this.

Their sound is very well researched; the keyboard throughout the album is very present and it gives this psychedelic 70's feeling to the songs. The whole album is like a trip down in the far corner of your mind after taking a few too many drugs. The echoes mixed with the voice of Alex also amplify this feeling by a lot.

Actually, from start to finish of this album, you feel like the band wanted to bring you into their world of sounds and make you look around. It really feels like a pocket universe unveiling in front of your ears. This would mean that we are taking that trip down their mind and not ours.

Each of the songs on this album has its own unique feel, but they also all sound very similar; slow progression inside a pocket universe that BARON created. The tempo is about the same from the very first song up to the last one. The slow and steady beat seems to be bringing you by the hand, with your eyes closed, toward the end of the journey.

I was very pleased with the whole album. The length and diversity of the songs, while staying in the same range of sound, is an impressive feat on the part of BARON. I greatly suggest that you try them out. This is one of the most unique bands I've ever reviewed on here. Their sound stands out from the rest for sure. It's a great album to listen on the verge of sleep; I can only imagine the kinds of dream you'll be getting on those psychedelic sounds.<
