When you make releases, it's always a pleasure to listen to new bands and expand your discography with new songs and new styles. And, of course, give your opinion about this. And it's a greatest pleasure to talk about a band that you like. It's happens to me and I'm very glad to make review from the next VANDEN PLAS album, called "Chronicles of the Immortals: Netherworld II" by Frontiers Records in November 6th, 2015. The band was formed in 1986 in Kauserslatern, Germany and it's the eighth album that they're releasing. They make a professional Progressive Metal totally different that you usually listen.
The artwork is one of the most beautiful I've seen in Prog Metal and combines perfectly with the theme - it's the second part from the history created by Wolfgang Hohlbein, one of the biggest-sellers in Germany and VANDER PLAS fan. The history is divided in visions by the vampire Andrej Delãny and his partner, Abu Dun, seeking the secret of their origin by the entire Europe during the centuries and always finding new dangers and thereby experiences several significant events of European history. Now it's the last part of this history and if you know what happens, you need or buy the book or the album.
The line-up is the same since the band was formed - only talented musicians are here - like the brilliant and totally amazing voice by Andy Kuntz, the powerful guitars by Stephan Lil and his brother Andreas Lil, makes the kitchen with the bassist Torsten Reichert, one the best on their style. Günter Werno shines in his keyboard making you gawping with his talent.
The songs are balanced, virtuous when the style asks, and with an epic and dark atmosphere, like the lyrics need it. You can't skip any track, because they do the things to hypnotize you and making you repeat the album like I did twice. The style - out of the normal standards, influenced by the finest Power Metal like only VANDEN PLAS can do. I could highlight all the songs but out of common, I can choose "Vision 12elve * Godmaker's Temptation", "Vision 14teen * Blood of Eden, "Vision 17teen * Where Have the Children Gone" and "Vision 19teen * Circle of the Devil" that are simply amazing!
If you like epic songs, a good theme, excellent musicians, you must listen to "Chronicles of the Immortals: Netherworld II" as I did and don't forget to buy this album and the first too. It's a masterpiece that will mark generations! The only thing I don't like, it could be longer.<
