Grim Vision - War - Agony album cover

GRIM VISION is a Hardcore/Punk/Black Metal/Death Metal infused band from Hamburg, Germany. GRIM VISION were founded in August of 2013, and recently released their latest 3-song EP "War - Agony" through Bastardized Recordings.

GRIM VISION has released a three-track EP and the first track "Fallen Soldier" gives off one clear message that continues to resonate throughout the rest of the album: the musical sound quality of the album needs serious work. The drums often sound quiet tinny, and the guitars wail, screech, and squeal. Sadly that continues on both tracks that follow in "War Machine" and "Ten Minutes". It really distracts from the music that the band is trying to play. It makes the music almost painful to listen to. It is unclear if that is intended, or is just due to poor quality of recordings that were done for the EP.

The album is titled "War - Agony" which has the potential to be angry, loud, and aggressive. GRIM VISION has groveling, guttural vocals that sound angry and pissed off qualities to it, but again it is hard to determine what the vocals are really supposed to sound like underneath of the distorted instrumentals that plague the background.

GRIM VISION need to clean up their sound to allow their music to be enjoyed by music fans. When the distortion is to the point that the music is not intelligible there is quiet an issue. If that is fixed, it sounds like the band would have quiet heavy Sludge and Black/Death Metal influences, but for those that are listening it is hard to tell if those are their influences because the music is hard to decipher through the complete distortion of the sound. Poor sound quality quiet rather ruins their EP thoroughly.
