Reanimator - Horns Up album cover

From the start I won't lie I was a bit confused when seeing this bands name as there is in fact a Uk based band with the same name, only difference is that the name is pronounced REANIMATOR, but anyways I'm getting ahead of myself here, the band REANIMATOR is a Thrash band that hails all the way from Quebec and have been around since two 2005, with the start of their carrier the band worked and released a demo entitled "Living For Murder" and then an EP entitled "Thrashin'" the neighborhood which lead to the bands first full lengh in two thousand and nine entitled Ignorance is no excuse, since that release the band gave recording a break, though in two thousand thirteen they returned with the Ep Great balls which has then led up to this release
"Horns Up".

The first track, titled "Electric Circle Pit" is one I like. I like how this one starts off with a very simple yet effective build up which I feel makes this track work as it then beats you to the ground with a classic and very vicious classic Thrash beat which just keeps on pounding the listener to the ground over and over again with no sense of mercy. The energy is the first thing though that you can pick up off of this song, it's raw and it makes it's statement loudly. I find that vocalist Patrick Martin has some incredible energy going for him and honestly I really think this guy has some of the most original energy I have listened to in a long time.

The second track is titled "Rush For The Mosh". I find this track perfect for going absolutely fucking mental, it's fast and it has everything that you want in a Thrash track with balls to the wall attitude, again though this guys vocals are just insane just because it has what you want in a vocalist that can really bring it hard and even harder with every line that is sung. I honestly wanna see what this guys can do live just to see if the energy is the same as the product we have in hand here ladies and gentlemen, but either way this is just a storm in a bottle waiting to be cracked open, drunk and re used over and over again.

The third track on the release is "Tempted By Deviance", and from the start we see the band doing something different which is great to see instead of going into the same style as the other two, the grooves that this song has are insane and catchy as hell, along with the same sort of energy that you would expect from this band along with a slower beat which together make this track stand out in a big way, I feel that with what we have here that we have a band that really knows how to bring the party to the fans even through record and that is what you need in a band.

The fourth track titled "Thieves Of Society". With the way this record is going I see some awesome things coming their way and with this belter of a track continuing the trend of speed and heavyas hell riffs I feel that this is going to be one record to pay attention to for the future. The way this song goes is way more groove based which shows that these guys really know what they want out of their tone and out of their massive sound, though I will say for the vocals there is a bit more harshness which really works for this track in a big way and I feel that with every second you get a bit more force from these guys as well.

The fifth track on this album is titled "The Abominautor" , and its a bit more chaotic for this track I have to say and I think chaos is just what we needed for this record, that and a dash of madness to boot. This band keeps on impressing me folks just because there is something that they can do with what they have and take it to a new level of loud and viciousness, the track goes a bit more mental then most of the record just because there is something more insane to this track that you have and you can feel it right there and then just by following the beat and the rhythm that this track shows us, it's a mad house riot mixed with a shit ton of booze which together make "The Abominautor".

On this album, the sixth track is titled "The Mosh Master". I keep getting this feeling that these guys really want to start something new in the thrash metal scene by bringing in familiar yet new types of sounds to the table and making it work in a big way, I feel that with everything we have seen on this record that this band are doing something that they want to make a new part of the world of speed and vicious tunes, though it is cool to see a band like this doing what their doing and making it work, the track itself is really powerful though and it really flows with everything these guys have and are showing to us the audience, the great thing it that the band have some really interesting ideas through this record and this trakc is just an example of just that.

The seven track on the album is titled "Still Sick", and going even older in old school thrash the band bring us a slab of heavy speed with the track still sick which is still as sick as you can get when getting down to the ground, the track follows a lot of the older ideas that thrash brought to us in the early two thousands and mix's some interesting ideas following in the same patterns as bands like Xentrix which brings in the early inspiration and MUNICIPAL WASTE are bringing the newer traditions and playing hard of partying hard while keeping the track to their standards and showing us that they have something that sticks out of the rest of the bands in the scene.

The eighth track on this release is titled "Off With Their Heads". It's safe to say that these guys keep bringing the attitude and bringing some really awesome sounds to the table, it almost feels like an engine ready to burst with how much power we're getting from these guys and you know I really love what these guys are doing just because it is familiar to the ear yet you know it is a band that is doing their part to bring something different and way more extreme , the band have energy to spare as there are is no rest for this speed demon of a band and what they are doing at this point and time and honestly it makes me wonder what we can expect from the band in years to come.

The ninth track is titled "Mock A Mockingbird". We come to the records final track which starts off more differently then the rest, from the start it is hard to make out what the vocalist is saying but at the same time you notice that the guitars do overpower the rest of the track which for me is always a bit of a deal breaker as I feel that it is down to the production quality at the end of the day and with this final track I am a bit split on what to think, then again you never let one song ruin a great record at the end of the day.

To conclude I feel that this band has returned at the best possible time and will be greatly appreciated for their hard work and effort in making this record, I really feel that "Horns Up" is something that will make this band stand out for future shows to come.
