Imperfect - Point Zero album cover

Crusty-sounding, the alternative metal piece IMPERFECT unleash upon the world a music which ingeniously fits the name. Oriented towards the high pitch, dissonant kind, the aggression is built in such way that the dysphoria, while not being harmonious, fuels great feelings of unexpectancy and madness. Killer, raw leads shred and tear the sanity away, as the alternative Punk/Rock influences feed the all-consuming chaos ''Point Zero'' was meant to be. Recently founded in 2014, the Ukrainian based quintet have not yet tasted commercial success, as the sound is rather underground, deafening and filthy at least.

Driven guitars work in harmony, discordant from one another, dissonant from the music as a whole. Cracking, feedback sounds seize your entire attention, as a grungy aura establishes itself through the dominant Crossover Punk feeling. A slamming, metallic bass enters, backed by pedals and banging drums. The decent pace is confident and solid, constructing gradually it's notoriety through dynamism and rusty screeches. Surprisingly enough, a powerful, low growl rises and imposes its authority. From ''Anarchy In Ukraine'' to ''Devil's Reggae'', the full masculine growls go from intimidating to shaky and shouted, somewhere between the spectrum of plain tough Metal to a chaotic, disorganized mess.

Combining rhythmic varieties to texture in tone definitely gives personality to the formation's music, as the short debut record explores bouncy, sharp, ramming, harmony, shredding and Jazz. Always with a clinking bass as major foundation, the raw, unedited tone shines with harsh chords and aggressive riffs. See, the genius may not lie in the capacity of playing such riffs - as they aren't complexly written for the most part - but to make the general cacophony match and stand out as an interesting, creative, vigorous record.

With near-stomping-tempos when the jerky, heavy bridges hit, the memorable scrapping, rough shreds in harmony with each other define IMPERFECT's mean spirit. Always high pitched, the influences flow from Old School Rock and Punk, to SYSTEM OF A DOWN-like resemblances in the chant and distorted, empty guitar chords (''Point Zero''). If the said song here gripped you for the same reason, wait till the one and only calm, folk moment of the record. Offering just a tease of melody, the third track quickly shifts into a massive breakdown, satisfying you in a wicked way. If every song deserves its place on the album, ''Devil's Reggae'' owned it twice more. Fluid, diversified and bluesy, the sneaky and mysterious tempo leads. Tight in rhythm and well accentuated, the shaky, low voice can fly away and truly express itself, as the foundations executed by the drum-bass duo are solid. Armed by frenzy, the demonic growl kicks back again for the chorus, and leaves a heavy flavor to the record's end.

In its whole entity, ''Point Zero'' experiments with sloppy, raw, heavy and crusty. Distortions, feedback, pedals, every element meets its objectives of creating an eternal, all-consuming anarchy. Beware of them men who call themselves alternative rockers because, provided by their own masterminds, the surprises will be numerous, straightforward and powerful.
