Dying Humanity - Deadened album cover

Hailing from Germany, formed in 2006, we have DYING HUMANITY who play neck-crunching Death and Thrash Metal in a Melodic sense. DYING HUMANITY show that they aren't lazing about with 3 albums before "Deadened" and only 1 demo. These guys are not messing about and know how to Metal as well as have a hunger for it! The band are in their prime and kicking major ass: "Deadened" had me thrashing about all throughout the album.

"Deadened" is extremely diverse for the Metal scene, with almost all kinds of vocal ranges, extreme noise and musicianship, and a fine production to boot. DYING HUMANITY are your typical Death Metal group but also share the immense brutality of how Death Metal should sound like as well as ranging from Thrash to Melodic Death Metal. This is really a band who do Death and Thrash heads like me justice.

There's nothing more enjoyably fascinating than thrashing about to a glorious Death Metal band: this type of genre has the most power for me in all of Metal, and DYING HUMANITY show off how it's done perfectly. From acoustic medleys to intense brutality, "Deadened" may well be an album of the year for Death Metal. Sounding a little like BLOODSHOT DAWN, who have the equal popularity of DYING HUMANITY, I'll now run down the album from start to finish...

"Deadened"
Begins with a slow acoustic-like intro, continuing indefinitely with brutal, growling Death Metal vocals, sounding like an atomic bomb (I've not heard one granted but imagination!), with story-like elements in the middle of the song too. "Deadened" is an atomic blaster that's for sure, with the most diverse lyricism I've mostly heard in a Death Metal band: awesome.

"Delusion"
Continuing onwards "Delusion" shows the more melodic side, including the diversity I was talking about earlier. A very high vocals in this one; Marcus Friedrich is indeed a great vocalist. Death Metal isn't all about growls and DYING HUMANITY opened their mind and shown that it can be good to open your mind in lyricist sense in any genre.

"Beyond Redemption"
This one shows the Heavy/Thrash inner side with some KILL CONFIRMED like musicianship, which is damn great, sensing a more groovy side, and powerful bass tones. Maximilian von Muller pulled that off greatly in that nice little solo.

"I Am King"
Beginning with those introductions that has the stereo player on the lowest setting with a nice riff, it blasts off into a thrashing explosion with melodic vocals, and just a killer of a tune ahead of you, slowing down at the end with another slower acoustic-like ending.

"Psychotic Illusion"
Begins with the bass pounding, drums and slow riffs in between, onto probably one of my favourite tracks on the album. This still showcases the diverse lyricism and musicianship, and had me headbanging and fisting-pumping to this one. The high vocal growls are of exceptional interest here, and it's good to note the slower side ascends into a Death Thrashing jam of steel.

"Feed Him To The Lions"
This part of the album is also another favourite: everything is spot on reminding me of DEPRIVED PLAGUE in one particular part. I still can't get enough of the sound production and clear sound and utter loudness, truly an album for the Death Metal top 10 of 2015.

"Oblivion"
Slowing down the album with another one of those acoustic-like jams, this one carries on for longer, with of course the drums and bass intruding, a very enjoyable instrumental. No vocals in this one, but a crushing instrumental ending, still keeping their signature melody and brutality.

"Ashes Of Destiny"
Nearing the end of this fantastic album, the trademark brutality returns. After a nice break from the previous instrumental, the high vocals and low make a fine return from a previous venture, adding more pound and that fine melody sound included. A great headbanger.

"Devious Greed"
The guitar riffs are especially noteworthy in this one. Kai Seidel and Simeon Keller really have outdone themselves here. This one is pretty short from what I remember, but by all means, this was still a great jam. This is the statement I'm basically describing this album, greatness.

"Bloodshot Eyes"
Is a killer end to the album, with that catastrophic feel to an ending. The drums are noteworthy with this one, Danny Vanis is a beast. "Deadened" has to be the most diverse Death Metal album I have heard in a while.

Well, what can I say after all that? The key word for the album for me is diversity in every sense. "Deadened" was a fine return and the band definitely know how to implement diversity into the Death Metal genre. "Deadened" is easily an album for the top 10 Death Metal charts. And that fine artwork should be included in anyone's Metal CD/Vinyl collection. Being a Death Metal fan, this was an easy one to enjoy for me.

I will definitely be on the lookout for these guys in the future and would hope to see them live one day! I urge my Death Metal brethren to check DYING HUMANITY out, also all Heavy Metal fanatics alike should too.

MASTERPIECE.
