The final story for any writer is always going to be an emotional challenge, as they are essentially writing their last ever piece of work, be it a book, a storyline for a game, a script for a film/TV show, or in the instance of this review, their final album. But what if say the main writer of the project died before it could be completed? What would happen to their unheard opus that has not yet been completed? How would it turn out if members of a band you were once a part of picked up the pieces and finished your final piece of musical work for you to honor your memory? All of these questions shall be answered in this promo review.

First though, a bit of history. After he left the Melodic Metal band STORMWITCH in 1989, the bands founding member of Lee Tarot, began writing his final story as a musical composer. This was to be a tale set in the dark ages full of kings, knights, holy wars, the holy grail, magic, witches, fire and all kinds of mysterious fantasy content. Unfortunately though, he never had the chance to finish his final story as in April of 2013, Lee passed away from a stroke at the age of 50, which is unbelievably young.

Having heard the news of what had happened to Lee, former members of his band, STORMWITCH, decided to get together to try and finish his opus. Once they had a vocalist who was a long time friend of theirs and a former member of the band BLACK ABYSS, work could begin on finishing Tarot's last story and since May of 2015, the final opus of Lee Tarot is out for the world to hear.

The members responsible for completing his opus realized that they wanted to turn this project into a full time band, and so WITCHBOUND was formed and their debut album, entitled "Tarot's Legacy", is the final tale written by the late Lee Tarot told as a musical story and I am hear to see if this is a fantasy tale that pulls me in and immerses me in it's storytelling.

Clocking in at around 48 minutes across 14 songs, the final opus of Lee Tarot, as told by WITCHBOUND, seems to use all of the correct elements for a fantasy story, as the melodies are arranged quite nicely to match that of a mystical tale in terms of the lyrical content and the way they are delivered in terms of the vocal performance, the guitar melodies and the beats from the rhythm section all seem to compliment each other and work together to make some great mystical songs, which you will become immersed in the first time you play the album from start to end.

In terms of the actual performance, there is not much really I can find fault with, as there is plenty of good qualities about this album such as the melodies of each song, which are arranged very nicely to match the content of each track and the production and the mixing, which have all been done well to make each song stand out, hence why it's hard for me to name individual tracks, as they are all good and they do indeed make you feel like you are listening to a story.

Last of all, but not least is the performance from the band itself which may have it's very rare hit or miss moments but truth be told, you'll probably find yourself becoming too immersed in the melodies and enjoying the story being told to really worry about that.

Bottom line, the debut from WITCHBOUND is a good musical tale that really does immerse you in it's storytelling and the name of the album, "Tarot's Legacy", is something that both the band and the late Lee Tarot can be proud of, as it does pay tribute and homage to their late friend who will be able to rest in peace knowing his opus has been completed and done right, the way he probably envisioned it would be when writing it prior to his passing. I highly urge you to check this one out if you like fantasy style storytelling in music, or are familiar with Lee Tarot or the band STORMWITCH.<
