STRAIGHT LINE STITCH is a female fronted Hard Rock / Heavy Metal band from Knoxville, Tennessee in USA. The band was formed in 2000 and they has released such albums and Eps: "The Barker" EP (2001), "Jagermeister" EP (2003), "Everything is Nothing By Itself" (2004), "To Be Godlike" (2006), "The Word Made Flesh" EP (2007), "When Skies Wash Ashore" (Koch Records, 2008), "The Fight of Our Lives" (E1 Music, 2011), "Straight Line Stitch" EP (2014) and fresh EP "Transparency" in 2015.
Opening "Out Of The Shadows" is a nice intro with piano and "Dark Matter" is a really killer track with heavy sounds, nice female singing which transitions into shouting and growling. Pounding drums with melodic heavier guitar riffs give this track Nu Metal echoes and even AMARANTHE influences. In this song is also a fantastic and melodic chorus.
Different vibes brings "Human Bondage" where there are Heavy Metal guitars and more slower elements, then Metalcore-styled vocals with pounding drums. Gentle guitar opens the track "Out Of Body" with melodic and distanced singing. Beautiful vocals sounds interesting together with stronger sounds of guitars. Pounding drums in Death Metal style mix growling and screaming in "Wilderness" together with calmer and dynamic atmospheres, and catchy great singing of vocalist. Modern sounds give a truly interesting colour to their music.
Generally the music of American STRAIGHT LINE STITCH is interesting, but for example "Face Of God" shows that musicians are still searching for their musical identity. Inside this song is melody, but not so catchy so that it will stay in the mind after listening. In their music is power, but they sometimes lose sight of that - mixing Metalcore with other genres sometimes comes across as a confusing mash. In my opinion their music is interesting, but sometimes it is sounds like nothing special, because it couldn't catch my heart.
Their new album "Transparency" will be surely loved by Hard Rock / Heavy Metal lovers who likes such genres like Metalcore and Extreme Metal together in one pot. In my opinion STRAIGHT LINE STITCH has big potential and in the future I wish them all the best!
