CHAINSHEART create Heavy Metal that really sounds like they should be under the category of True Heavy Metal, well, Classical Heavy Metal also as Rob Halford once called JUDAS PRIEST and this fits CHAINSHEART well. I had an idea from the start that CHAINSHEART would sound a bit like MANOWAR and JUDAS PRIEST but they combine these two bands into an original powerhouse of creativity and from the get go, I was pounding my fist straight away.
As a fan of mostly all Metal, Heavy Metal will always remain a favourite (next to Thrash Metal of course) but my heart stays true to the origin of Heavy Metal as it should. What I'm proud of CHAINSHEART the most is that they keep the Metal that we all love through the influences of IRON MAIDEN for example and on their own merits they produce similar sounding classics combining a more rich and louder sound experience, but make it better through the power of modern age technology so having new bands really does help the music industry after all.
Having only one album previous to this one "Just Another Day" already the band are in their prime and if not already, Heavy Metal fans alike should not frown upon this band and most newer bands in general, especially if you're so heavily (no pun intended) into the music. CHAINSHEART know how to please us Heavy, Power, and even Thrash Metal fanatics by fusing these genres into one mixture and have created a melodic album with these combined into one, fantastic album. If you are in a band and relish melodic like atmosphere then take example from CHAINSHEART.
"Leaving Planet Hell" is a very catchy album implementing enjoyable elements with the greatest of guitar riffs I have ever heard, as well as vocals on God like form, sounding like ROSS THE BOSS' (self-titled band) vocalist at times. They call themselves Rock/Metal but as stated earlier I feel the Power melody is more their thing, but the combination of Rock/Power Metal is also a great thing.
Right off the bat "Soul Kingdom" tears up a rip roaring rich sound and at first I was already addicted. The power of those riffs and high end vocals showcase what Metal is all about. Catchy vocals from Yiannis Savva have a similar outtake in "Breeze" and "Flames That Rise" and oh my, those riffs just keep gushing out, on top with crushing drumming. For me, don't overlook smaller bands, they can produce some amazing material, it's not always the bigger bands who people should look out for as smaller bands need support with the spotlight too and CHAINSHEART certainly deserve the attention. Leaving me happy to listen to "Leaving Planet Hell" on repeat for a good few times, they've definitely done something right for me to listen extensively. Older bands should take note with this great band I will add too. Some fine song writing and production makes me believe this is a masterpiece.
A couple slower tracks add the atmospheric prowess in "Mystery" but still left me enjoying myself with a tolerant headbang speed, still keeping them gorgeous, screeching riffs and vocals which seem to play out through the entire album. It's astonishing and sounds so damn good. Throughout the album has a fairly similar outcome "Final Destination" is a fusion of "Mystery" but harder and faster and is very tasty and just outright enjoyable.
"Return To The Stage" is perhaps the most addicting for me, especially because of the lyrics "Metal Sound, In My Ears!" and it's a song most song writers excel at in their music careers and makes me appreciate this fact at how hard the bands of today put their time and money into creating such fantastic music for us to enjoy eternally. Not forgetting the hard hitting riffs in this one, it's just a great tribute to the bands who love to tour.
The main point of interest in this album is the catchiness of the tones in each track, and that for me, is music. Everything just blows me away and this band isn't even well known yet and they deserve to be noticed. "Leaving Planet Hell" is one of the most enjoyable albums I've had the pleasure to review, so if you are reading this review through interest and are needing a new band to jam to, look no further.
By the end of the album it gets more and more catchy and feels like a more positive closing with greats like "Never Stand Still" which needs no explanation, it's a track that keeps your head up high like all Metal should! Riffs STILL exploding with amazing ferocity but keeping that positive feeling. "Dangerous Drop" has a more thrashier beat to it which left me going a bit nuts with enjoyment! Closing in to the finale it continues with the more positive beat in "Journey" which is mostly an instrumental song but so damn enjoyable, I did notice a couple riffs almost sounding like METALLICA's "Orion" so it half feels like they influenced this track from that, which is indeed cool if that would be true. My imagination is a bit nuts like that sometimes. Indefinitely closing now with "The Spell" which slows things down once again but keeping the heavy beat and enjoyment tenfold.
Overall, wow, that was one special album for me. Such a fine production which teaches Metal a lesson with blood, sweat and tears, and the beers. Hail to CHAINSHEART, I will be supporting you until I depart from this world! I would like to say take my wallet but I'll just buy your albums instead.
