CHAOS MAGIC is a Symphonic Metal act, which is the latest act put together by Chilean-singer Caterina Nix who met and joined forces with fellow metalhead Tim Tolkki to create a new project which has also labeled their latest release "Chaos Magic". "Chaos Magic" is out now via Frontier records.

It must be started off by saying that CHAOS MAGIC have excellent, clean vocals and great melodic, symphonic-sounding metal in the background. The musical quality and vocal quality of the music is really very decent. Caterina Nix has the voice of some sort of symphonic angel, and portrays a power in her voice that not very many other female singers are blessed to have. Bandmates Timo Tolkki and Jami Hvovinen provide excellent musical backdrops for Caterina Nix to exercise her vocal abilities in front of. The fit is really very beautiful.

The tracks are mostly "positive" in nature, and are quiet uplifting. Tracks like "I'm Alive" and "From The Stars" are pretty self-explanatory that the songs are praising the life that we are all blessed enough wake up each day and live, and the dreams we all aspire to reach in the future. Other tracks look back on events from the past such as "A Little Too Late" or "The Point Of No Return", but the message is clear that we must just move on and learn from our past mistakes rather than dwell on them and let it ruin what lives we have right now.

Having said that there is one problem with the entire album: it sounds like a lot of other bands such as NIGHTWISH or TRANSIBERIAN ORCHESTRA that play an exceptionally similar style. It needs more originality to make the act something new and something people really will want to listen to. If it sounds like something that's been done before that takes a bit away from the market-ability of the release. It just needs more originality and something to "set it apart" from other Symphonic Metal bands that have produced this exact sounds for years before CHAOS MAGIC were created. That lack of originality really diminishes any factor of interest anyone may have in the band. If its been heard before, why do it again?
