Kommunity FK - Thee Image & Thee Myth album cover

Amidst of the LA Punk explosion was KOMMUNITY FK, born in 1978 creating and American Gothic/Deathrock. Early influences for the band were William S. Burroughs, Jean Cocteau, Salvador Dali, and the early David Bowie. The original band name was KOMMUNITY FUCK, which I'm sure you could guess. However, the FCC didn't like that word so the band changed its current state so promoters wouldn't have an issue placing their name on marquees. The name has stuck throughout the years and the band is back with their fifth release "Thee Image & Thee Myth". The album comes in with ten tracks with a listening time of just under 45 minutes.

The album starts with it's intro theme "She's Ov Mystery and Echoes", an acoustic two minute number that has an atmospheric spacy instrumental that gives just a taste of what's to come on the rest of the album. This track leads in to "Dumb FK" which keeps the more Atmospheric Goth Punk. The music is different but cool, however, I do not like how the vocals just lay over the music. The vocals are cool in their own right, a little monotone with the exception of the very end. The keys were what held my attention through out the track. They are exquisitely performed.

Track three; "Numb Nutz", music makes this one of my favorite tracks. Again the vocals on this track are just laid over and mostly toneless. If production on the vocals were just a little better this track would kick ass. It is definitely something Goth party worthy with incredible keys and synth performance. There is a little India influence heard in this track making it a little different but perfectly different.

"FKing Death Dealerz" vocal production is better making the vocals more instrumental than a completely different element. However, the overall music production is off. It's sound is a bit too low from the pervious tracks. It is still a musically sound track that has a killer guitar riffs, but still keeps that synthy sound complete.

"Dreamz For a Better World" is perfectly produced. The vocals and the music blend well together and are loud enough to make the listen thoroughly enjoyable. Loved listening to this track.

As the track progressed on, the production of the vocals was perfectly interlaid. The overall sound was a little light, but still enjoyable to listen to. The final five tracks "Doll Ov the Undead" , "Thee New Tribe", "Thee Silver Sister", "With One Star in Sight" and the outro theme "She's Ov Mystery and Echoes" all have a different feel to them; something a little better than the first tracks had.

Overall, I enjoyed the Gothic Synth energy this album had. There were some production issues in some tracks, but it seemed to come together in the end. "Thee Image & Thee Myth" is an energetic and creative endeavor.
