Of Love And Lunacy
Twist Of Fate

German band TWIST OF FATE take a Melodic approach to their Metal, with tinges of various genres throughout "Of Love And Lunacy". I thought instantly that it was a pretty easy album to listen to and appreciate as they re-imagine a multitude of styles and sounds that seem either slightly nostalgic or somewhat familiar.
Indescribably recognisable, the overall sound of this album is tugging at my memory, begging me to relate it to another band or era of music. However, to much of my frustration, I cannot. With the assistance of their genre shown on Facebook (Metal, Rock, Pop-Metal), I can wholeheartedly agree with that and understand completely with those genres. This album definitely doesn't strike me as a dark, brutal kind of album, but an determined, honest and meaningful one.
I can't help but feel they have a similar sound to the likes of bands like GLAMOUR OF THE KILL, particularly in tracks like "Stay The Same" and "Hope De Novo", yet their music is slightly more diverse with some unexpected twists and turns. Album title track "Of Love And Lunacy" struck me as one of the most solid tracks on the album, involving crazy, sinister and wicked melodies that stood out from the others. I can't accurately put into words how satisfying the crunchy riffs are from this album and how the vocals work perfectly with the music style. I think that this genre of music is a pretty safe one in relation to whether people will find it easy to like. With sing-along choruses and a hidden piano melodies, this album rates high on my list of 'instantly appreciated' bands.
I have no doubt that fans of the Pop side of Metal and Rock will greatly appreciate this band as much I as do!
