Norwegian four piece SPITFIRE definitely leave you wanting more after the intense, precise, and lively half hour that makes up "Fuel To Burn". With a familiar classic rock sound, but covered in a layer of grime and grit, SPITFIRE have crafted a refreshingly addictive record.

Things kick off with the title track, which suitably demonstrates what this band is all about - energetic rhythms and grooves, catchy and fun choruses made for a good old sing along, and a sprinkling of flourishes, in terms of the song writing and structure, that keep you on your toes! This last point is important. Where many tracks in this kind of style suffer from being overly long and predictable, SPITFIRE have honed their songs so that they are exciting and to the point, without it ever feeling forced!

"Damned If You Do" really nails the token mid-tempo song, with another good chorus, and a few southern blues influences creeping into the sound. On "Dogfight", the more restrained vocal performance during the verses stands out, before the songs rips into a first class chorus and top notch guitar solo! Again, the structure keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the short and snappy nature of the song means you'll be pushing the repeat button a few times for sure.

"Nightmare" features some cool guitar effects that create a slight sci-fi atmosphere, "Far Away" would be a truly anthem-like song live, and "Gimme Some" has some memorable moments of frantic guitar work, before some eclectic changes in pace. Every track on "Fuel To Burn" really does seem to have its own identity - a rarity for bands of this style! The concluding tracks live up to this too, with "I" featuring some prominent bass work and slightly more technical grooves.

In a nutshell, SPITFIRE are one of the freshest sounding classic rock acts to appear in a fair while, with their brilliantly raw yet refined sound. A slightly better production would be beneficial, but it doesn't really stop "Fuel To Burn" from being a whole lot of fun!
